Could It Be Male?
I both budgies make the ACK ACK sound. Pretty was a huge ACKER and he is a male you don't hear an ACK out of Merlin at all.

Shakey...in Name And Demeanor
Did you ever consider taking her into an avian vet and see what they say to rule out neurological or behavioral fear shaking?

New Budgies
Good to hear it just worries me when I hear those stories and in the end nothing is ever free even the pet because of the vet and follow-up care it needs that is not free but I know it will have a wonderful home now with you. That is all they really need is stability. Make sure you quarentine all your new birds and everything should work out well.

Maintaining Healthy Budgie
Since you only have 1 budgie I don't suggest worming there is no need for it. Those with aviaries outside do need to worm as a preventative. Don't forget a healthy diet with fruits, veggies, pellets, and seed. Millet can be used as a great training tool or a bribe to get them back into their cage so don't over do it as mentioned above. In our FAQ section we have wonderful information about nutrition which is going to be the #1 thing in keeping your bird healthy. Additives are wonderful but giving them the vitamains they need through their food is better just like us humans. Budgies are stubborn creatures and may not take to different foods readily but with encouragement, different ways of presenting it to them and persistance even the most stubborn budgie will learn to love their veggies and fruits and even pellets. As for the cuttlebone Merlin never touches his Pretty always did. If it makes you feel better you can shave some cuttlebone on top of his food daily after you have changed it or blown off the husks. I hope that helps.

Too Fat!
Isn't it amazing that even when we know so much we still neglect the things at home or even ourselves. How many times you see the cardiologist and he is the one who is overweight with heart issues. You don't mean to neglect anyone or even yourself life happens, we get busy and there is no room for excuses but it is life right . Under your care they will get back in shape and everything will be okay. Remember they love you and they are certainly by any means NOT abused.

Midday Naps
Birds are driven by the the short days and the longer days (in the spring) you will find that they will be more active. This is all birds in the wild and in our homes. I find that Merlin is quieter especially on day that is not sunny and much more active on a sunny day. He also takes his naps more during the afternoon.

New Budgies
What was the appearance of this place? It sounds like a bird mill. I am not trying to be nasty just asking. A tiel with a broken wing given away for free? That doesn't make any sense. I would take your birds to an avian vet especially the tiel to see if anything can be done for this bird. It may be too far gone but a expert opinion is what you need. Look forward to pictures.

- Salt Lick ?

Salt Lick ?
A dash that is very little . I have read that bread is not good for outside birds because of the salt content is too high and it can blow up their tummies and of course our budgies it is really considered a no no. Like anything moderation is best.
