Wanted To Know Age
I would say 3-4 months old that is 12 wks to 16 wks old not less so the bird will be going through the first molt soon Domanant Pied not recessive.

Wrong Result?
You need to know the difference between the 2 first. Both genes are recessive so if you want the gene you have to make sure either both parents are dilutes or greywing OR both of them are split for dilute or greywing Dilute is when the birds body color is 80% washed out with very light markings on the head and back. Greywing there are 2 types. There is a Greywing where the body is washed out to about a 50% lighter color and the wing markings are grey on the wings and head. Then there is the Full Body Greywing where the wings are grey but the body is of normal color (bright). You also have Clearwings where the body is bright and there are no markings on the wings.

Wanted To Know Age
Cobalt Dominant Pied Spangle I don't think it is a violet personally it is a cobalt. You can see she is not an opaline now in the new pics. I would say she is probably around 4 months old.

Licking The Bars Of Cage?
I would make sure his cage is covered for at least 12-14 hours for the next 2 weeks to see if that helps this type of behavior, also change the cage around and make it interesting and give him things to do like different toys, foraging for food etc... How large is your cage? If your budgies are fighting they may not have enough space. Post a picture of your set up please.

I agree with Dave and Neville, he is a cutie, agree with Liv on him being young.

Wanted To Know Age
With the classic banding of a dominant pied that she is along with being an opaline, I also think she may be a spangle but a better view of the back of the wings would be wonderful . Right now I say an Opaline Dominant Pied (possible spangle)

Lutino Yellow Budgies
Ino/Lutinos have red eyes when they hatch, they are very apparent even before the chick opens it's eyes, they don't change down the road expect when the iris ring begins to show around the 4-6 month mark. Bird that are one color are either Dark Eyed Clears (they will have no visible iris ring, the cere stays pink in the males) and then there are your Double Factor Spangles (they do develop visible iris rings and the male cere will turn blue).

Follow Up On A Second Budge
2 females will not always fight, Anne aka Rainbow on our forums has all females and they do very well. I always suggest getting the same sex birds therefore you don't have any mishaps with breeding accidently. Budgies yes can have recreational sex and not lay eggs but it is common for them to lay without a nestbox (if they have a male or if they don't). That is why I have choses males for my pet of budgie and when I got a companion I got another male. I suggest you get a younger female around 4-6 months of age. You will need to quarantine your new bird for 30 days before you introduce them. In the FAQ's I wrote up an article on how to Introduce a new bird to the existing bird, find it and read it :party0011:, that is how I did it and had no problems. If your cage is too small get the biggest one you can afford to fit 4-6 budgies if possible, the more remove they have the happier they are and reduced any fighting that may occur. You can find good size cages on e-bay, I got mine that way, we have a post in the FAQ about cages I suggest reading that over too . I hope that helps.

Wrong Result?
Honestly, using the same cock and the same hen you have a 25% chance of anything new happening. What are you looking for in mutations?

Weird Shaped Budgie?
If you can't feel their keel bone without pushing then they are fat, your bird too me looks overweight personally but I am no expert.

Wrong Result?
Dilute or Greywing are both recessive genes if your cock was not split for either of these genes that would mean all your babies would be normal. You say grey in your mutation of outcomes but neither of your birds are carrying the grey gene. You said your cock was green not a grey green. A bird needs to carry the grey gene to pass it off to it's off spring, grey is a dominant gene over blue (so a blue bird is grey visibly) and a green bird you can see it through their color, cheek spots and tail coloring. You say grey wing both birds would need to be split for this gene to have babies of this mutation. DF dominant Green Cock & Dilute Blue Hen - if this is the mutation of your birds this would have been your outcome 100% Single Factor Domanant Pieds (since you stated your bird was a double factor) BUT you said you got normal green did you get normal greens birds or did you get green dominant pieds? 100% Greens UNLESS your cock is split for blue then it would be a 25% chance of blue Only dilutes if the cock was split for dilute
