On a pied you won't be able to tell only if you DNA sex them yourself or go by the behavior or if she lays an egg. Look forward to more pics she/he is beautiful.

Personally Cathy, that is horrible and I am sure that someone will tell me that is business but with me business also comes the BEST home not just ANY home, I personally think it is reflection on her and if I was in your position I would opt out of purchasing a tiel from her now. Don't be sad things are meant to happen for a reason though I can completely understand you being upset and ticked.

It is so frustrating and I can empathize as I have been there too before . Excellent advice has been given.

So very sorry, I have been there with my own bird, Pretty, a lot of time we don't know what takes them down so fast, maybe fumes in the house or outside that came in, a undetected respiratory infection (that is what happened to me), please know you are in my thoughts during this painful time

  13. If you want to get Ino's though make sure the male is either an ino or is split to ino (an you won't know this one unless you know his family tree)

Wonderful, keep an eye on it though. The leg should show signs of improvement within 48 -72 hours if you don't see improvement or it gets worse do call them back. Please keep us updated.

It really depends on what you what for mutations or if you are looking to show your birds at all? What colors do you like? What mutations of this color do you want? Do you want grey greens or do you want more greys? Do you want Green Spangles or Blue Spangles with the birds you have listed you have different options it is more what you are looking for and then we can help you decide better.
  17. Birds are not part albino they either carry the gene or they don't . It is impossible to tell if a male is carrying the ino gene. Recessive pieds are not all white, is that what you are saying? They have patches of blue between their legs and the marks on their wings are splotched around. If your bird is all white and he has red eyes he would also be an ino or he could be a Dark Eyed Clear if his eyes look plum. Does this bird have visible iris rings? Like suggested, please take a picture of Snowy without a flash in natural daylight and a close up of the cere and eye if possible. In our FAQ we have a great mutation section also to review.
  18. As in Recessive Pieds, the Ino's cere in males will stay a deep pink, if you used a flash on the first one it could be affecting the cere color, we do have in the FAQ Different Types of Ceres along with Sexing your Budgie. I would say female also unless the cere is an even pink .
  19. I agree with Kaz, the 2nd picture really screams out girl

Make sure you use and avian vet not just a regular vet that sees dogs and vets and the occasional bird. When you can make sure you ask if they are an avian vet and see birds daily. Keep us updated.

    Happy Canada Day!!
  22. His beak doesn't look like it needs to be trimmed. Pretty used to yawn a lot too and Merlin looks like he is rolling his seed too, normal behaviors.
  23. Gee I wonder who said that? Hmmm I wonder , just kidding, yes I agree!
  24. do you think it could be a little bit of both? Like one caused the other?
