Welcome , we do have a Budgie Wanted sub-forum if you want to post that you are looking for a budgie, that will help too .
  4. Very nice assortment of colors and birds, I especially like the last photo
  5. I agree with the above. With my statement I didn't mean to cover them up at 2 PM and keep them covered until 2 AM but if you tend to go to sleep later then 10 PM and wake up alot then I would yes chose a place in your home that is quiet and dark, Merlin goes to bed here at 8AM inspite of everything and yes he chirps here and there but he knows if yours doesn't then a separate room is best.
  6. Keep us updated on him okay, he sounds like a real gem
  7. Congrats Kaz, he is beautiful
  8. U.S. is the same way I think it started when the Bird Flu came around.
  9. This is what I have learnt too from our avian vet.
  10. I believe it flight pics are so difficult.

  12. I personally would not put a budgie through surgery at that age and not because he is a budgie but I didn't put my 14yr dog through surgery just last year because of the age. I believe you give a bird (or any animal) a good life and when you feel they are suffering you make the decision to help them either by assisting in pain medication and/or making the tough decision of letting them pass peacefully (never easy decision to make).
  13. It really doesn't matter when you put them down what matters is that they are given at least 10-12 hours of cover time for sleep even if they are awake keep them covered, the less you cover them the more hormonal they can and will get too.
  14. It does take a couple days for them to settle it isn't abnormal not to see them eat or even drink until they feel comfortable. I would keep an eye on her and as long as she is not fluffed up all the time, sleeping she is probably just a bit stressed. Keep her cage covered on 3 sides really helps them feel more comfortable too for about a week and then slowy remove everyday. A quiet budgie is not a sick one because Pretty was a statue and quiet for a very long time and he was a male it is when they are fluffed, very sleepy, abnormal poos is when you have to worry. We have a wonderful FAQ section you may want to go through too that will help you feel more relaxed too.
  15. It varies from bird to bird Merlin had a blue cere during his first molt.
  16. Very normal to do these things when they are sick they have to pretend so they are not noticed by predators, when a budgie stops doing all these things you know they are very very sick, I know I lost Pretty very suddenly he was flying around in the AM and chirping and by PM he had passed away. I watch Merlin very carefully now even a stressful molt can get them sick. Sounds like he is recoverying continue to do what you are doing and don't let your guard down.
  17. You need to keep him in his cage and warm, feed him anything he will eat like millet, if you can keep him eating, warm you may have a chance, he probably got stressed through the molt and then got sick. Keep on eye on the poops even if they are watery they should have white and black or brown or even greenish in them at all times. All white means no eating and all black means no drinking. It is really ashame that people see budgies as just money when they are living and breathing animals (I know not your fault).
  18. Welcome
  19. I agree at this point Libby is your best bet even if you can take the bird to the avian vet she will be able to give it the 100% care it needs, PLEASE consider it and keep us updated.
  20. Please do keep us updated, Chyrs is so right, she knows what she is talking about.

I love this picture , you should seriously submit for BOM or maybe for a caption comp? Great photo and I love seeing your flock.
  22. Congratulations to Neville, who submitted this beautiful picture.
  23. Have you recently introduced any type of new food such as celery, lettuce or something leafy? What colors are the poos? Kaz is right, we are not avian vets here and without the bird being properly looked at by an avian vet it is a guess for us. Keeping him warm is essential though and setting up a hospital cage as Kaz suggested would be your first priority.
  24. Not sure about there but we do have canned food without salt.
