Honestly I missed that last statement since I was so wrapped up with the dog chasing the budgies....yet another good point glasses and budgies DO NOT MIX for sure, toilet seats should always be down, sinks drained etc....

Exactly...well put!! If we worry too much I think that is better then not worrying enough, it truly is better to be safe then sorry because I can tell you (IF) it ever happened you would be high pissed at the dog and yourself and probably would never forgive yoursefl. But your right, you live there and you can make the choices you want with your animals anyway you want but you can't expect (at least me) to read and see a story like this and not say something about it. It may feel that we are ganging on you etc...but trust me the members that posted above and any others that may are concerned for the welfare of your 2 budgies 100%. Anyways, I am not going to go back and forth with me trying to convince you and then you back and trying to convince because you will do what you want and I know what can happen (I have experience it myself). I have said my peace and agree with melbournebudgie and others have stated.
  10. not I said

Oh my you are playing with fire with budgies and dogs, I would never let my budgie out if I knew the dog would chase it. Cabela is very ignoring of all other animals so I don't worry but I am always there, Niketa our husky would eat them or kill them without a thought. Not wanting to lecture but I would rethink letting out your birds with the dog. I always put the "predator" ...in my house the cats and dog before giving Merlin flight time. Now with their wings clipped them don't even have a chance to get away...not saying clipping was bad it is a good decision but please for the sake of the budgies don't think the dog will just get used to them it is too risky.
  15. he ate it

    Ditto above and welcome!
  17. I would say yes if they eyes were regular with an iris ring yes, but I have yet to see a white opaline cinammon all I have seen have been lacewing at least here on the site
  18. I found this in the FAQ section of our boards What to do if your hen plucks the babies? METHOD #1: PERSPEX DOORS ON NESTING BOXES: this has saved many a chick from `down plucking' and `feather plucking'. It is imperative that when the perspex door is fitted that you remain in the breeding room until the hen and/or cock have been encouraged back into the nesting box. The sudden increase in light tends to frighten the cock and hen away from the box so it is imperative you check they have fed their chicks to avoid the death of one or more chicks from starvation. Once the cock and hen have adapted to the light the hen will generally round up the young and keep them at the back of the box. In many cases she has been known to totally clean the bran/nesting material out of the nesting box, beak full by beak full -maybe when she has completed this task she is too tired to pluck the chicks! Just remember to replace the bran daily so she has something to keep her occupied. If possible leave a small gap between the perspex and top of the nesting box, or drill holes in the perspex or side of the nesting box, so air can circulate in the box - the box can become quite humid if we experience a hot day. I have had a wonderful success rate using this method. METHOD #2 Mix up some baby oil and detoll 1 table spoon of oil to 1 teaspoon of detoll. once a day wipe the backs of the chicks. This will not only deter the hens from plucking but sooth the chicks where they have been picked and stop infection. Make a note in your records, against the hen or cock, so you can use this method again if it has been previously successful.
  19. the throat spot is brown you can see it in the first picture, plus she said there was brown throat spot so I checked it out ...assuming that is a brown throat spot the bird would be carrying cinnamon which could be washing out the marking and not making it a clearwing but in fact a cinnamon. Yes see the opaline, and I forgot the tidbit you told me that last time about the spangle and opaline gene combined.
  20. 2 is a lacewing that is right it is the combo of ino & cinnamon, I assume the eyes are red, Karen knows her lacewings . Yes it would be a Dutch Pied there are 2 types, you can click here on the show standard information http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=12646
  21. such wonderful news....I am so glad everything is progressing nicely, it is amazing how they come along with time patience and understanding.
  22. I would go with violet for sure on both the birds 17 & 16
  23. 6 & 7 add Full Body to the Graywing since the body color is full strength in color 10 & 11 & 12 look like opalines too but I am not 100% sure 16 & 17 looks like it is carrying the violet gene they are all beautiful, some of them you have colors other you don't did you want the color too?
  24. She is a pretty one, I agree with **** what a horrible wing clip but thank goodness it all grows back I can't see the spangle marking that well if she has cinnamon throat spot which I see that means she is not a gray wing but a cinnamon skyblue spangle (she looks opaline too) but we will see what others think. I would say she is a show type budgie doesn't mean she fits the standards but she comes from the line vs the pet type Welcome.
