  1. you won't have any ino's unless the dad is split to ino where you wanting ino's? you will have 50% spangles 50% yellow faces all blue birds, what coloration is going to depend on if the ino is carrying any dark factors since the male is not opaline females
  2. one of the parents is plucking the top of your baby's head that is what is happening, you have to watch and see if you can figure out who. One of our experience breeders who have dealt with this can give you more advice on what to do.

Tim, put that cage together and he said it was a pain we had no instructions either when we bought it. Could Glen put it together for you?
  5. I wouldn't use dowel perches they don't provide the exercise that budiges need to exercise their feet, I would use only natural perches that either you make yourself from safe wood or from the pet shop. When you put up perches put them wide and try and keep the middle open for flying also at different heights so they can go up and down for exercise.

  7. Thanks for this Elly. I will see what I can find. You are right, it is not in vain. I wonder why some of the other "pet-type" birds survive anything but the "show-type" birds do not. Hmmmmm....? I wish this statement was completely true because then Pretty would still be a live and he was a pet type, didn't make it to his 2nd birthday but Merlin lives on strong and healthy and he is a show type. Genes are genes I suppose....
  8. Jodie, I PM's you and moved your post to a more approriate forum.

  10. I would just simply let it molt out it will be in no time quicker then you think and offer her regular bathes, her feathers are probably stained and all the washing will probably not take it off and be more traumatic.

  18. Considering that we have a very good vote count and that our members are excellent at spotting the mutation that is correct I am going to close this poll question today. Great job everyone!!! The answer is : Yellow Face Type 2 Blue Opaline Texas Clearbody photo by global moderator, Nerwen
  19. birds should never be kept in the kitchen for a permanant location, my brother in laws birds both died there just recently, I actually put a post about it in What not to do with a budgie. I only put Merlin by the screen door when it is 80 F or above because I don't want him to get drafted. In direct sunlight is excellent for them as they all need the vitamins the sun can provide but direct is not good for the reason's Phoebe stated.
  20. Dave I am so sorry to hear that you lost Norm the good thing is you have an answer and you can treat the avairy. I guess in a positive light Norms passing was not in vain as you could have lost the whole flock. Not making less light on his death because I know you care about each of your birds greatly. RIP Norm I do believe there is a post about Bea treating her birds for this too because she also lost a bird to this you may want to PM her or do a forum search. She dealt with it last year I believe and I believe it was the same thing.
