Tweety Biting Feet
I don't think he is being mean I think he is being "orney" or but an "h" on that and is flirting with her feet. If your birds don't like to be sprayed I would have her correct the behavior with a quick squirt. Just a note on budgies on the floor it is very dangerous because they can be stepped on easily and crushed if not noticed especially if they are flying down there all the time. Many people including myself won't let them on the ground for this very reason.

Eating V Playing With Food
don't give them spinach only for a weekly treat if maybe a monthly treat because it is known to block calcium absorption.

very nice pics...I really love the spangles and the yellow face 2 :hap:- Runt And Tweety
very adorable and a wonderful testomonial to those who ask if I have 2 birds can they be tamed :hap:- Can U Tame Avery Budgies
Just popping in to say hello and welcome. :hap:- Seperating For Taming
Taming 2 birds can be more challenging but it can be done especially when they are such a young age. In fact, birdluv is working on taming her 2 birds she has had for a while and has being having great success, she has posted her experience and journary on the boards. Leaving them alone and hoping them will become used to you or tame is not going to happen. Birds need attention on a daily basis what type of attention you give in the beginning is very important. In the FAQ's under Budgie Behavior I wrote up a taming article much of what I wrote up can be used on 2 birds at the same time. I don't suggest you separating them because they will be more focused on calling for each other and being anxious. I would focus on being part of their flock and having them accept you into their realm. Getting another budgie to have in a different part of the house is not the answer because 1. he will call to the other budgies and 2. you have to personally work with what you have first and you have 2 very young birds with a lot of potential. We have members on here that have 2 plus birds and they are all tame.- A Photographic List Of My Budgies...
There are different types of dominant pieds, all dominant pieds should have iris rings some have only 1 that is more common in double factor dominant pieds. My Merlin just has a very large spot on the back of his head with iris rings but no banding Then there is the Clearflight Dominant Pied which has the banding and clearflights with iris rings which yours does look like her flights look clear with no markings. The double factors have very little markings, but will have the blue cere or pied cere pink and blue & they have iris rings some just have 1 instead in both eyes.- A Photographic List Of My Budgies...
She has the band on her front yes? I think I see that now even in the first picture, that would be a dominant pied- A Photographic List Of My Budgies...
I don't see the blue spot you are talking about the first bird, I just don't see the pied in her at all. Cool....so that opaline spangles are the ones that have the color of the body with the spangle markings I didn't realize that I always wondered, will have to look at our mutations page with spangles and opalines to see the correlation On the last bird do you have a better picture of the front of her? She does look like a skyblue violet opaline clearwing it would explain the body being bright and the no marking on the wings unless she is a df factor pied in there too?- A Photographic List Of My Budgies...
The first bird? I don't see pied at all? the other 2 I agree with sometimes the spangle marking are the color of the birds body I have always thought that was cool.- A Photographic List Of My Budgies...
I am going to say YF2 Cinnamon and the cinnamon is making the bird look washed out the throat spots & wing patterns are too dark for a dilute Dilute budgies are washed out all over. The head and wing markings are very light, and the body color is about 80% diluted (washed out). I would say spangle but I don't see the dominant pied you are talking about?- Naughty Buddy Wont Eat His Vegetables!
I agree use only natural perches or ones that are made in the stores that are natural like, a calcium perch or cuttlebone and he will use it when he wants too. As for veggies, fruits etc..it can take up to a month to get your budgie to eat any of it lol so you must continue. Here is an article from our FAQ on teaching your budgie to eat a variety of food http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en also if you do a search or look through the food and nutrition forum you will also see posts just like yours with mmber suggestions too .- Hobbes& Claire's Taming Journal
isn't it amazing with time and patience what can happen, you enjoyed them before I am sure but now it is even more rewarding to have them because you feel part of their flock and they are interacting with you...great experience here for all to read.- Rocky The Magnificent
Type one or type two denotes whether the yellow 'bleeds' into the blue (type 2) or not (type 1), not whether they are double or single factor. We just had this discussion in another post and my thinking was yours Rainbow but then it was showed to me I was thinking wrong. Here is the link to the post with pics http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=18994- What Type Of Budgies Do I Have?
Welcome to the forums, your birds are lovely- Lacewings, Spangles, Opalines, Greywings!
We have all the pictures we need in our Mutations page & Daz even put up the information in Show Standards Forum. CLICK HERE FOR THE DIFFERENT MUTATION PAGE CLICK HERE FOR THE DIFFERENT SHOW STANDARDS Hope this helps...- Quarantine Question?
When you read information about quarantine from avian vets they actually say 90 days (3 months) vs what we advise 4 weeks (1 month) which is very interesting. Kaz is a good person to talk about this too because she herself got very sick from a sick bird that was purchased from a top breeder she can certainly lay down why it is very important. Nothing is ever fool proof but if a few extra precautions can help in the long run why not. What is 4 weeks to a dead bird or the birds life expectency of 6 plus years....we are so impatient.- Norm's Bum And Kim's Toe
Oh boy Dave, I hope Norm gets sorted out that doesn't sound good. The toe ouch but it heals fast Pretty lost a complete nail and I never know how it happened it was within the first week he was at the house.- Rehoming Tam And Edmund
yes...was that her user name too though?...anywhoo I remember her post they are gorgeous- Stripped Flight Feathers
It is possible, anything is but I will go with the most obvious a nutritional deficiency since is on a basic seed diet only adding other foods can improve the conditions of the feathers. - Help With Id Type
