- Hi, I'm New
- New Budgie Name
do you have a photo of your new budgie? It really depends if you want to go with a theme? If you google pet names or even baby names you will find them in A-Z order along with meanings, I bet that will help you out a lot.- Hi
Welcome. THere is tons of information on our site along with awesome members with excellent advice. You said, you bought a new bird yesterday? Do you have this new bird seperated from the existing bird? Meaning in a different cage and a different room? It is very important to do a 30 day quaratine when you bring in new birds into your existing flock or bird, we have information on why and articles in our Health Section and in our FAQ's. If you did quarantine that is awesome if not I would start today. As for breeding we have a wonderful section on breeding and members who know the ins and outs so I would focus on learning about breeding the pitfalls and the positives before you get started along with making sure the 2 birds you have are of correct breeding age. Again, much of this information is found in our FAQ section. Again, welcome.- Are These Cinnamon Markings?
I mentioned that too RIP, that unless it was a hen it could not be a cinnamon . I think waiting it out watching this bird mature if it is a hen would be best. Beautiful birds.- Are These Cinnamon Markings?
I have no problem with being corrected Elly when I am wrong, but you have misinterpreted what I typed here. I said there is no way this bird is a clearwing as the cheek patches are light. If you read this correctly, I am saying it is NOT a clearwing as clearwings have violet cheek patches. And vice versa, I apologize for not reading it correctly.- Are These Cinnamon Markings?
Here are the standards for clearwings http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en Note that the Clear Wings has violet cheek patches, dark blue tail feathers and full body colour. A Spangle with no markings on the wings can be mistaken with a Clear Wing, but the latter differ in cheek patches and tail feathers. As the non Australian Clear Wings has markings on the wings to some extent, they can be mistaken with Grey Wings, but still - note the cheek patches, tail feathers and the body colour. I am not sure Dave where you got clearwings cheek patches are light? Here are pics of all 3 different dilution mutations http://www.budgieplace.com/c_dilution.html Renee, from my reading greywing and clearwing are co-dominant neither is dominant over the other and together they will produce a Full Body Greywing (which you may have known but throwing it out there for others) If this chick was produced from 2 clearwing parents, then it could only be a clearwing, if the markings look brownish then it probably is a cinnamon and would have to be a hen hence the father would be carrying the cinnamon gene. Is it a hen? I can't tell from the picture very well.- Are These Cinnamon Markings?
The first 2 still look fuzzy and the last one you can see the markings but not clear enough to say yes it is cinnamon. Just my opinion though.- Are These Cinnamon Markings?
and macro (the flower) setting and hold it down until it completely focuses I assume the bird doesn't have any throat spots?- I Am New
- Mental Screeching Budgie ...help
What do you consider screeching, I can't imagine he does this all day long there are different types of budgie noises and your misinterpreting them as all screeching. Male budgies are very vocal in play and can get loud. Would you mind getting a video and uploading it here so we can see what type of behavior he is displaying. Merlin doesn't screech very much as a sole budgie but if he does I simply cover him up if he doesn't quiet down. If your bird is screeching first thing in the morning do you have a dark enough cover on him? Most them of them won't wake up fully until they are covered. You have received good advice but I would still like to see a video of his behavior. Budgies have many different sounds.
