  1. I haven't had any problems so far with that sort of thing. When i got my new cage I put all my resident budgies in first and my quarintined budgie in later and it didn't worry anyone. Ithink you should put Pretty in first, because he'll have time to get used to that and won't be stressed by both meeting Merlin and being in a new cage. Merlin however has to go through that. :hap: Also the cage will be standing there looking at you, willing you to put birdies in there and you won't be able to resist. :(Laughing out loud):
  2. Maybe you could send her a budgie care book, that encourages cleaning and healthy food. Hopefully she'll read it
  3. Here are some really good sites on breeding your birds: http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_breeding.html http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/dir.html They are really good and I'm absorbing all of their information at the moment
  4. Smily, this is a very good site and has a few tips on how to handraise babies in in. It has many tips scattered about it so it pays to look at anything that has anything to do with babies and that also includes the beginners section : http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/dir.html Try out this site too : http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_breeding.html This one looks really good: http://www.cagenbird.com/a04.htm
  5. Hugs and cuddles to you
  6. That's cool BB woot! Yes Jenene, good on you update us please
  7. Yes i would say that would be the way to go Bea. When a dog misbehaves, sometimes you have to go back to basics and do training like "sit"and "stay". For Blink just get him to step up and come to you when you call him. Get him to do this perfectly. Use millet. And when you do call him don't do it to just put him away, do it all the time or else he will know it is cage time and won't come. So far I haven't had this problem (my budgies love their cage and I often feed them after putting them away, it also has big doors). Arkady is good and will fly to my hand when I ask him (well actually sometimes it takes a minute ), but it means I can get him in. Sometime if he's really bratty, I'll entice him to my hand with yummy treats and then catch him in my hand an put him in the cage, but if you do this, make sure that you feed him in your hand often without catching him, or again they will learn that yummy treats in hand mean cage time!!! But what is great after all the rough manhandling that it takes to get bratty budgies back into their cages, is that they still love you. Hope that helps
  8. Really deep purple cheekpatches mean he is carrying a violet gene, not neccessarily that he is violet. Because your budgie looks like he is a sky blue, his violet is not showing. He would have one violet factor. You need two violet factors in a sky blue and one in a cobalt to make a true violet.
  9. How did you make the ladder?

Maybe you could bolt branches onto the mesh so that you have branches coming out of the walls. Sort of like those branches that you buy in pet shops that have a nut bolt and washer on one end.
  11. Don't forget to give me credit!
  12. Haha (Laughing out loud). ~That position is called the"U shape and is what they do to signal to males that they want to mate. Because she has ducked down low to allow the male to climb on and put her tail up so that it doesn't get in the way of mating. I think Pepsi wanted to have babies with you!! Yes she was being frisky and by stroking her like that you were probably encouraging it. :(Laughing out loud):
  13. My first thought was feather duster, which produces curly feathers and usually the babies are larger than other babies at the same age. But they don't look like a feather duster at all. Any suggestions? I just looked at the picture again and yes, they are definately NOT feather dusters
  14. A good rule to go by is, anything new that is bigger than their head will scare them. So cut all veggies down to that size until they get used to them and know what they are.
  15. Yes I've always kept two males together and they always got on so well, kissing and bobbing their heads with each other. Of course there will always be a boss, but my budgies always got on well and the two males I have now get on well too. Just ask Bea she has two males together at the moment.
  16. Well he is some sort of white based bird. Perhaps a yellow face type II dilute clearwing of somesorts, becasue he has no wing markings and his blue is so dilute. His yellow however spreads onto his wings and tail like a normal YF2 but not into his body colour. Oh, no it actually seems to spread into his body colour a bit . I hope that helps (I'm still a bit new to budgie genetics) You can't see his wing markings at all, perhaps he is some sort of pied mutation? aswell??? Try this site:http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html
  17. I'm glad to hear it worked
  18. How did you get her so tame? Did you handle her from birth?

Yes, that's quite a good idea. Is it not too cold for them?
  20. Hey buddy, come any closer and you won't have a jugular any more OR Hey who stole my green skirt?
  21. Here I found a picture of one at: http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/general/ident2.html Quite a good site that, for interesting mutations Quite pretty. How would you breed one?
  22. Just keep trying. My two budgies are deeply in love with each other but I am continuing to try and tame the one who isn't tame and slowly I'm getting there.
  23. When the female wants the male to mount her, She makes a "U" shape with her back. She sort of bows down low and puts her tail up.
  24. I would really like to see one Also if you have a picture of one of those (not sure what they are called) budgies that are normal coloured but have a completely white head that would be cool too.

    Are felt tips okay?
