  1. When he bites you how do you react? If you don't react and don't do anything AT ALL and you have been doing this for as long as you have had him and he still bites, I may have a solution ofr you. You have to be careful though as it may work with some budgies and not for others, it may even encourage biting, but this solution worked for my budgie, who continuosly bit me even though I had been ignoring her bites for years and she is 4 years old too. okay what you do is, when they bite you, you don't pull away, instead you push into their bite. You push their beak (lightly so as not to hurt them). The budgie doesn't like this, because it means that they could fall and it is also very uncomfortable for them. It means for them that when they bite they get pushed back and so they learn not to do it and because you are pushing their beak while they are biting you they learn to associate the two actions together. This worked almost instantly (within 3 days) for my Saffron and nowadays she hardly bites at all. And when she does all I have to do is remind her and she stops. So I don't know if it works for other budgies (as I have only tested it on one budgie), it could even make their biting worse, but it worked for me and could be used as your last resort.

Apple trees and other fruit trees are good. I use poplar trees too as they are also used as stock feed . If you have any Eucalyptus trees over there those are good. Yes, leather is okay to use, there are many members on htis site that make toys out of leather. Hope that helps

He doesn't look fat to me. They both look the same in weight
  16. I was so proud of him yesterday, he managed to fly 2 metres with only 2 feathers in one wing and one in the other. I was so proud I gave him a little millet just for that.

If you read my other post about that book "What Animals Tell Me", apparently, animals get confused if you try to change their names. However sometimes the animal doesn't like its name and wants a name change. It depends on how you and he reacts when you say his name. If you think of good things when you say his name, chances are, Pretty will like his name, especially if he reacts positively when you say it. I hope that helps :ausb: Before you decide, I suggest reading that book (get it from your library), to tell what animals really think of their names. Here is the website of the lady that wrote the book: http://www.petcommunicator.com/ you could try emailing her, she might be able to help.

I'm like that too Bea. I think its because its unique and you don't want to lose that.
  19. I give them carrot and bits of apple and Dandelion sometimes, but usually Arkady eats it all before anyone else can. I thibnk it is more due to the fact he has his wings clipped, because he is 2 and a half and when he had full wings he never broke a feather. In fact this is the first time he has broken a feather.
  20. Well It has been 13 days since I put her in, I spent a lot of time with them yesterday and they didn't mate at all and so far no eggs, so all is looking good.
  21. His moult isn't prolonged, it only just started. I feed him Kaytee fiesta. It has pellets and normal seed, different seed and dried carrots and apple. I think his flight feather broke because he only had two on the one wing and thus that feather had no support from any other feathers, because all of the other feathers are clipped.
  22. There is a little wire platform that is actually like a bridge and I hang it upside down from the top of the cage. They have been hanging out there quite a bit. I think I will take it down. If I move her back into another cage, it will be quite a downsize for her, as their current cage, as I mentioned above is 89cm x 89cm, x165. (taller than me) I haven't been home much lately, but in the time that I have been home I haven't seen them mate. But I think I will take that bridge out.
  23. I think moulting stresses them a little, so they get watery poop. arrg, Izzy just broke one of his new flight feathers, he only has 2 in one wing and one in the other now!
  24. Yes I would agree that Lusoperequito's bird was a YF2 as he has blue around his rump and lower belly
  25. I have a little wooden platform in the cage that Isis likes to walk over, more so than the other budgies. Do you think she is considering this as a nesting spot? I have taken out all the spare food dishes too.
