Confused Birds
Don't worry. Boys naturally act as a couple, when they want to. What exactly do they do to each other?Kiss and bob, or do they attempt to mount each other? Remember the concept of same sex couples doesn't worry animals, it is perfectly natural for them. Often I find my males flirting with the girls, one minute and then flirting with the other boys the next.

Home Sweet Home!
Yeah like I said, it is a little hard to tell from the picture. I think it is good to place perches far from each other so the birds are encouraged to climb and fly and exercise (not saying this to you personally Booms, just in general).

What Do You Do When There Is A Power Cut
Couldn't you put them in a small carboard box (with airholes) and put that inside a larger box and put insulation in between the boxes, something like tissue and then put that box inside another box and repeat. Then you could sleep with them in your bed, and not crush them. Would this be enough to keep them warm? Because hot water isn't much of an option if you don't have power.

Home Sweet Home!
I do agree with Kirby though. Your budgies need to beable to stretch their wings to the full length and have flying room in side the cage. I do like the set up though. (the picture may just make it look more crowded than it actually is. If you have seen my cage (89cm x 89cm x 165cm), it has quite a few perches, but a lot of room in between. I only have about 8 toys in there at a time, but my budgies are never bored. I just don't like it too cluttered. In fact when I open the doors to let them out, they can't be bothered coming out to fly! Here is my cage (I haven't got any recent photos) I have changed it around since and added more perches since, but it is close to the perch density ((Laughing out loud)) that I currently have. I should get some recent ones. And here is a picture of my other cage set up.

Jealous Boys
It's evil how that happens. Ever since they upgraded to the big cage and Arkady has a girlfriend, they don't want to come out and fly and play on the playgym, I spent months building for them, anymore. :bluebudgie:

What Do You Do When There Is A Power Cut
I was wondering, because now that it is approaching winter, there will be more power outages for those people breeding now, and I would also like to know just incase you get a power cut any time. How do you keep babies that you are hand raising (for any reason, mother a bully or cause you want to hand raise) warm when there is no power? Especially overnight and over long periods of time (storms). It would be good to know and be prepared.

Broken Back!
The vet probably said the spine wasn't broken, because he could still move his legs. If the spine is broken there is a 99% chance of becoming paralysed. Thus if he can still move his legs, his spinal cord is not severed and therefore it is likely that his back is not broken. However there is every chance that he may have broken ribs, pelvis and vertebrae. Yes talk to your avian vet How is his breathing? Is it normal, laboured?

Mating Ritual
Yeah, I have such a tomboy girl, sometimes she bobs her head. When I first introduced her to the gang, she went around and fed everyone, boys and girls.

I Gotta Know Why
Haha (Laughing out loud). 3 1/2 months is not too young. My little Arkady was very active in that area at that age. Constantly flirting. He is such a hen's man. He is only 7months old now and has moved to third base with my 8-9month old girl. So age is no boundary. :(Laughing out loud):

Help - What's Wrong With My New Budgie?
I believe you should buy the biggest cage you can afford. Even for one budgie. Because in a big cage they can stretch and explore and you can add more areas to play in. I have a huge cage, 89 cm by 89 cm by 165 cm (as tall as me) and there is only 4 budgies in it. I don't believe that a small cage is good for one bird, because that bird will still want to fly around as much as when he is with many other birds. The one you are buying (the big one) looks great, you will love creating new environments and set ups in it. Be careful of the top though, it has been known to collapse and squish birds, when open. If you are worried about that, just don't use that perch on the top. :bluebudgie:

Jealous Boys
It's just boyness. Blinkie is asserting his dominance. Aslong as he doesn't hurt Ozzie, it is okay. I had budgies that used to do that. However once they knew each other for a while they didn't do it so much. Dominant male birds will do it when they first meet another bird and because Ozzie hasn't really moved in yet he has to keep re-establishing himself. That is what I think. I would introduce them and supervise them in their cage. First introduce Ozzie in the morning and leave him and Blinkie in the same cage for the whole day and then remove Ozzie at night, so that you can supervise them all day. It would be best to do this on a weekend., so that you can run at the slightest scuffle. :bluebudgie: If they aren't hurting each other, just let them be, because they need to sort out their pecking order.

There Must Be Something In The Water
Cage was just recently changed around and new toys are added all the time. Remember how Isis did the "U" shape on her first night in the cage. Obviously new environments don't affect them. They haven't produced any eggs in the 2 months Isis has been with the rest of them. And I'm not too worried about Izzy and Saffy at the moment as Izzy has no balance and Arkady is constantly interrupting, wanting a turn. :bluebudgie:

Does Your Budgie Bite?
Thanks Riebie. That's awesome. Yeah, about biting out of fear, this method is not a good one to use in that instance, as, like Terri said, it would probably make them more scared. It is good for a budgie that has bitten for years, and does it to establish dominance, or for fun and usually you can tell when they are doing this. If you are holding them and they bite, like eye drop time, then they are scared and doing it wouldn't help. For when he is biting the finger he is sitting on, just slide your other finger between your hand and him. This has the same effect as the previous method. :bluebudgie:
