Which Babies?
No that yellow is a recessive pied. Half or all babies green. Half or all babies Dom pied. Half or none recessive pied. And the rest would be all hidden genes that could popp up anywhere.

Buddy And Me In The Bathroom
Yeah Cheeta is right. The light from somewhere (flash perhaps) which you can see in the top left hand corner of the first photo has been directed by a mirror or the actual light source itself, into your camera lens. Causing the white light to split slightly (like a prism or crystal) and produce a purple light.

Sweet Peas

How Intelligent Are Budgies?
I think budgies are pretty smart. You listen to them chirping and you will find they use the same chirps in the same circumstances. My budgies always "say" the same thing when I turn off the light at night. This pattern of sounds, they use to communicate with one another is defined as language. An animal that has language as complex as budgies (who probably have many more sounds that we can't even hear) is very intelligent. Budgies are known to use human phrases in the appropriate context too. Yet another example of their intelligence. When I first joined this site I used to feed my budgies honey seed bells, which because they are not flowing seed, are hard to eat and budgies take a while to learn how to eat them, if they are not shown. (I first had to teach Izzy how to eat them) Now that I have switched to a healthier diet for them they haven't seen a seed bell since september last year: until today. I gave them some seedbells because they will be on their own for a few days (going away. Don't worry seedbells last for ages). Well Izzy and Saffron knew what to do instantly. The newbies: Arkady and Isis have never seen a seedbell before, but they learned off their friends very quickly. Isis who is very smart knew what to do after watching Izzy for only 5 seconds. My point is, they have pretty good memories. After 5 years though, I don't know. It is like Kids, if you leave them for 5 years, they don't really know you, but they remember you.

Do Your Budgies Eat An Insect?
I don't know about eating the wasps, because the wasps will sting your budgies and that could be very dangerous for a small animal like a budgie.

Do Your Budgies Eat An Insect?
I went into a really good petshop and they had little crickets that they put in the babie budgie gym, for them to eat, I suppose.

What To Do With Ricki?
First off, I recommend that you get a second opinion from another vet. Remember these guys have done over 5 years of training and numerous years of experience in the medical world. Sometimes they get it wrong, but not often, and to compensate for that go to another vet and get a second opinion. Remeber they have had more experience with animals that the average person. What is wrong with letting her breed? Breeding will not make her less tame. Breeding changes the hormaone levels, so it should help. What do you feed her??

Yeah, he is based in the UK too so it should be fairly easy for him to ship stuff to you.

Are They Ready?
Basically the tallest (biggest) bird to ever exist. 3-4m high. Over 10 to 13ft. And that eagle in the picture was big enough to carry them off too. That eagle even carried away children (true fact)! If you click on the link "Moa" to that it shows you how big they are compared to Richard Owen.

Our Trip To The Vet With Kens Birds
Wow I only just read this topic now. Sorry to hear about everything. . But it's good to hear you are feeling better and that all your budgies are okay. Poor Ken. Idea: Maybe you could put some of that green mesh material over your avairies. Could stop wild bird poo coming through. And you could suspend it just above the avairy roof, so that if there is poop or wild birds on it, your budgies and other birds can't touch it.

Are They Ready?
You can use poplar tree branches, eucalyptus and and apple tree branches safely. You just need to wash them before you put them in the cage. Natural perches are great as the bark is good for their feet, they come in different diameters and it gives them something fun to chew on. okay. I would say: Put the cage on a larger table. Wire your cage door open. You can use any kind of steel wire (not zip ties: -> poisonous) or you can use pegs. Hang the nest box on the outside of your cage, using some more steel wire. Then (now that you have a larger table), you can put a box or something underneath the nest box (which is on the outside of the cage) to give it extra support. That way the nest box entrance is not facing you or the light and you can access the inside of the nest box easily for monitoring. Ps. Kirby did you mean 16mm not inches, when you were describing the perch diameters? Cause 16 inches would probably be a perch suitable for a moa.

Oyster Shell Or Cuttle Bone?
Is the oyster grit? I don't give that to my budgies. I believe they don't need it and it can cause crop impaction if they eat too much of it. The cuttle bone is good though as it keeps their beaks shortened and provides them with good calcium. Do you have a cuttle bone in there at the moment? Because if you don't, you can leave one in there and after awhile she will try it. It just may take a while.

Mate For Life?
All I can say is, budgies are like humans. They may bond with one budgie, but they will change when they want to and cheat on their current partner. Just think... humans.

I've Got New Budgies :-)
Just be careful you don't go to fast. You gotta have time to bond with each individual one.
