  1. Cuuute. You have such lovely coloured budgies with such cute faces.
  2. How come he was plucked? New fangled spangle. haha
  3. What a cute little fluffy bum
  4. Yes it was Izzy's first clip. I have clipped wings many times before and know how to do it properly. Izzy is just growing some flight feathers now, He has two new ones in each wing. Do you think he will grow a complete set back? I haven't changed anything in their diet.

The door seems quite small. You want to beable to reach all areas of the avairy, so make a door about perhaps, 2 foot tall by 1 and a half foot wide in the middle. Then you can put smaller doors on both ends of the cage. And some times little 6 inch by 6 inch doors can be handy for food dishes.
  6. Yes it does look a bit like scaley face, I just finished treating my budgie for it. It doesn't take long to treat (about a month) and the medicine is fairly cheap. He is very cute by the way.
  7. I have posted theis elsewhere but was told to ask here as I will get more help. Well, I've had Isis (girl) for 8 weeks now (she is about 6 months old). She has been in quarintine for 7 weeks and just last week I put her in with the rest of the gang. Automatically she and Arkady (5month old boy) hit it off and got on really well. Later that night I saw Isis perform the U shape to Arkady!!!. She has only been in this cage for one day!! and there is no nest box. I wasn't intending on breeding them until Christmas this year. Anyway the next day I saw her and Arkady practicing. So far he hasn't got any balance. But what should I do they are too young and I do not want to seperate them as Isis only just got put into that cage and she was so lonely and depressed in the other one and now she is so happy. Can they mate without producing eggs? And if they do produce eggs should I take her eggs away and replace them with false ones so that she doesn't exhaust herself by continuously laying eggs. It is autumn here at the moment so it gets dark early, however I study in the room they are in and I can't move them to another room. Their cage is 165 by 89 by 89 cm so will be very impractical to cover. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I feel your grief Terri, it is so sad that your poor little Pippin should have to go through this so young in his life. However we can't assume that this is the breeders fault. Cancer is a strange ailment at is not always genetic. It is a mutation that can come through genetically or from the environment, although because Pippin is so young it is most likely genetic. However the parents may have been carriers of the gene so they were perfectly healthy and it did not appear in them at all and thus the breeder did not know when they bred those two birds together. We need to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes. I definately agree with you about the fact that people shouldn't breed just for the sake of it or for the money, it is just selfish. However with Pippin's case and so many cases, it could be because of irresponsible breeding, or it could be due to outside factors. All I can say is that I'm glad you have Pippin and that you are looking after him, because it will be your love that makes the difference, and I hope he does the best that he can, because I know you will.
  9. I'm looking at all these sites, and trying to get some cool ideas.
  10. I thought it would be cool to make a hanging playgym. Does anyone have one. I would love some ideas. Infact anygym would be cool. I just love designing gyms for my budgies. I found some pics on this site, but i would love to hear from you guys. http://www.beaktweets.com/mediumbirdstands2.htm http://www.budgieworld.net/ParrotShack_Pla...sBirdTreats.htm Also what sort of branches would be best to use? Eucalypt?
  11. I have a grate in my cage (you can't remove it) and my cage is 165cm tall. Sometimes my budgies fall to the bottom, but they never get hurt. I find having a grate is more hygenic for the budgies and easier to clean.
  12. All my budgies are moulting at the moment. Initially I collected everysingle feather, but now, with all 4 moulting, I've given up.
  13. So my Saffron must be a double factor spangle, because she is all yellow with no markings, but she has iris rings and black eyes.
  14. okay, good on you
  15. From that last picture she looks dilute
  16. Aaaaaa, Phoebe what is happening?
  17. Phoebe, I'm a bit confused? Just wondering what you are referring to. :S
  18. She is not a dilute. I have a yellowfaceII dilute grey spangle and her markings are a lot lighter than that. Your budgie doesn't look like she has any dilution in the wings either that or she has a small dilution.
  19. I like him he is cute. I looks like he will be a fun, lovable budgie, you can tell from his little face
  20. I'm so sorry to hear, Melissa. Best wishes to you. Shawna: I don't have very good pictures of Isis that are recent, but here you go. She is a yellowface type 2 dilute grey spangle.

From the description, the sound he is making sounds similar to that of the noise they make when they are being a bit agro. Like "arr-arr-arr-arr", sort of like a really quick seagull noise. Is that the noise he makes? Because if it is, then it is perfectly normal and they do this to their toys, other budgies and you, or if they are feeling grumpy, or sometimes for fun. My budgie does the agro noise then he starts bobbing his head and running all over the perches for fun, while chirping merrily away, but I don't know about the head twisting bit though
  22. I would say that she is a yellow face type 2 (becuase she has slight yellow on her wings), dominant pied, opaline (she has blue on her back there), possibly a clearflight pied (not sure), and either a cobalt or blue with a violet and dark factor, if she is the colour you describe her as. Hey Shawna, I'm going to make you jealous . I have a yellowface type 2 spangle.

Which one is tweety? Right or left? Oh yes, and Arkady is 5 months old now.

I think Tammy might actually be a boy. Tammy's cere looks exactly like Arkady's cere looks like now and Arkady is definately a boy, (because his cere was originally pink, now it is turning blue). It looks to me like Tammy's cere is changing from pink to blue. However it could just be the picture. How does Tammy act? Does he/she bob her/his head up and down as she runs side ways along the perches? Does he sing continuosly, almost non stop at times? Does she bob her head at his toys and poof up her head? Becuase all that I have described is common male behaviour. Females don't really sing, they just do a few loud chirps and "angry"noises and are less 'bouncy'. Yeah. I'm just saying this because fromt he pictures the rings around her nostrils look blue, whihc would mean that he is developing her adult cere colour.
