Here's some photos of the gorgeous Mr Blinkie i took yesterday, he was feeling strangely photogenic. Ozzie was feeling strangely un-photogenic but there's a couple of photos of him too. :budgiedance: (he's violet cause i put the camera on "vivid" to see how it turned out)
  2. Last week i noticed that one of my aviary budgies, Jelly, had scaley face. I treated my whole flock with ivermectin a few days ago and i assumed that would be troubles over. However, when i just went out to feed the budgies i noticed that Jelly looked SHOCKING! :budgiedance: I'm not entirely sure what's wrong but the scaley face looks worse and she's covered in goopy sticky yellow stuff. I immediately separated her from the flock and she's currently in my little spare cage just outside the back door. Dad's working at the office today (after over a week of working from home, of course he's not here the day i need him) so i can't get her to the vet until tomorrow. She doesn't feel like she's lost weight and i'm yet to see what her droppings look like and if she's eating, i'll update you all when i know but can someone confirm for me that she has been vomitting so i can give accurate symptoms to the vet when i call.
  3. WOAH!! 8 babies, that nest box is gonna be packed full once they get bigger!! :(Laughing out loud):
  4. Just a quick update, all - or most - of the budgies have been treated. Some were too slippery and i couldn't net them but i would say all but 2 have been ivermectin-ed. :budgiedance: Lets hope that Jelly gets better quickly.
  5. .....in the dog bowl!! :(Laughing out loud): I couldn't find him anywhere and i wanted to put him in his cage, then i saw Mickey staring at the water bowl and i could hear splashing and this is what i found:
  6. 3 indoor birds, Cookie can eat the same pellets as Blink and Oz can't he? If i can figuire out where to get it i'll definitely get those two types to try. :hap:
  7. How can they be opaline? Neither have a clear patch of blue between their wings?! They look like regular spangles to me, both Blink and Oz show a little bit of blue/green in their wing markings and they're not opaline.
  8. I was thinking of the melanistic spangle too but i couldn't remember the name, just that someone had posted an article about them before.
  9. I actually discovered that i still have heaps from when Tiki had it, i'll treat all the birds when i have an extra pair of hands to help.
  10. I found out that i can get Harrisons and Zupreem from the aviculture club in Canberra! I would've got some today but they didn't have budgie size.
  11. Oh, i just noticed he only has one clipped wing. It'd be better if you got the other one done too, even him up. It's awkward for a bird to try to fly/flutter with uneven wings.
  12. Hmmm....i just fixed the tags for you, the problem was that you were using instead of but now most of the images aren't showing up for me, have you moved them in photobucket?
  13. Those are the cutest pics! Especially the last two!
  14. I had a genius idea! Tomorrow me and dad are going to Pet Expo which is across the road, i'll ring in the morning (excellent vet, open sundays) and see if we could pick up some ivermectin!
  15. Well i just need another little bottle with the eye dropper for the spot treatment, i'm pretty sure that if i said i got a budgie that has scaly face they could fix that up for me. I'll ring on Monday.
  16. Jelly has scaly face, i noticed today. I'll get dad to take me to the vet during the week to pick up some ivermectin. Seems like i've read about a lot of cases of scaly face lately! Does anyone know if you can just go to the vet without the bird to get it? Because it would be heaps easier if i don't have to take Jelly. I'm sure i would've had heaps left from when Tiki got it but it looks like mum must have thrown it out it a mass cleaning frenzy.

Blinkie used to have a perch head scratchy bit too! But mean old mummy decided it was getting too dirty and threw it out. Then he went through a phase of scratching his head on the yellow mineral block.
  18. I picked Beak Appetit cause i've been wanting to get some of their products for AGES!! But i would also like to try pellets from the other companies and avicakes and nutriberries from lafeber!
  19. I've never heard of it being used that way but there are obviously a lot of different methods of treating with ivermectin out there.

Ozzie's not allowed near his head! He'll give Ozzie head scritches but won't let Ozzie return the favour!

My boys don't like to EAT my toast, rather rip it to shreds all over my lap. I always have to get the carpet sweeper out after they've shared my breakfast cause there are crumbs everywhere. :(Laughing out loud):
  23. Blinkie screamed when he had to go to the vets too. They just like making us feel bad. When i used ivermectin it was one drop behind the neck, like a flea treatment for dogs.

    I can't see the pics.

My dog Mickey is the same. We put his food in his bowl but if anyone else has food he'll beg for that before going back to his own food.
