  1. I've noticed you say goldenface type 2 several times now. How can goldenface be type anything? I thought it was like yellowface type 3? So there's yf1, yf2 and goldenface?

I was handrearing a newly hatched chick for a few days and it took approx 3hrs for it's crop to empty. I would say at 10 days you could easily leave 3-4 hours between feeds and just have one feed in the middle of the night.

Blinkie sometimes wet sneezes, usually after he's had a good dig around in his nostril with a claw. Then he'll snot all over me! Unless it's all the time i wouldn't worry too much.

Great!! You wouldn't find a more people orientated baby. In reality we've not spent a massive amount of time with Fizz but he's so friendly! As soon as he sees someone he'll run around at the door and if you open it he'll fly out onto your shoulder. He's not shy either, so it doesn't matter which person he sees.

Yeah, it's easy to do. The rings come with a little tool for putting them on. I only band ones that are the same mutation as others i have.

So maybe i've gone a little photo crazy the last few days but i'm having fun! Here's some more pics of my darling boys Blinkie and Ozzie. I think Oz has been kicked into a moult because of his sickness, making him look quite scruffy - but still very cute. Muuuum!! Please, no pics while i'm looking like this! NO!!! No close-ups!! I'll make a deal - no more close ups and you can take some more photos! *sigh* Here's a cute pose - will that do now? Mum! Come on! Enough is enough! I think you've taken enough photos now! <_< Now for his majesty, king of the household, Blinkie. *fluff* Wait! No, i wasn't ready for that photo! I'll look fat in it! okay, i'm ready now *pose* You want another one? How about i do this? Do i look like a super model? If i look like a super model why doesn't Bailee want my super model babies? (urm, Blinkie, maybe because he's a BOY!!!) Apparently Blinkie can't take a hint! Are you saying i'm dumb? *glare* You'd better not be or i'll cry! One last sexy photo!

Thanks everyone. Blinkie seems totally over the needle today. Ozzie seems a bit livelier too. Lets hope the scales start to go up for both of them soon!

Well he's never stopped with the chirping, head fluffing and flirting since he's been sick. But he's been eating a bit more...

Well if i start treating them all for what Blink and Oz have then they'll have to stay in till treatment is finished. But i have to wait another week or two at least cause they all need to be flying and eating. It's just a split ring, so i can tell her apart from my other albino out in the aviary.
  12. The videos didn't work, i think you need to make your account public (in account options) but from your description it sounds like she's having a bit of fun. I guess both boy and girl birdies like to put on a bit of a show. :(Laughing out loud):

They do grow fast. Although Noah and Scamp are still pretty babyish. They're always snuggling up to each other and they don't really perch yet. The other three perch and fly no probs!

Here's some piccies of Blink, Oz, Cookie and Bailee that i've taken tonight. Mr Moswald looking super handsome and flirty And a little video of him chattering away to himself Now for His Royal Blinkiness *glare* You made me get a needle mummy Why would you do that! I'll chew your shirt to pieces, that'll teach you! *flirty head* *mega cuteness* And here's a video of him chattering away, at the end i attack him with mummy kisses and he gets all glary. The Bailee Bear And Cookie looking rather gorgeous with wing feathers and a tail coming in! Here's one of both of them

Was he full and were you putting pressure on his crop? I've heard that putting too much pressure on the crop will cause food to be regurgitated. If it's not that then you really need to see a vet. Could be something wrong that's affecting his ability to process the food.

Blinkie was not at all impressed by that injection. I might talk to the vet about continuing Blinkie's treatment with the in-water meds rather than the needle cause he seems a lot more stressed by it than Ozzie. I still wasn't able to get treatment for everybody. The vet i saw really wants me to talk to the avian vet about it as he was worried about causing more harm than good. I'll call on Monday and see if i can pick up some meds then. In the car on the way home Blinkie climbed up to where my shoulder was resting against his cage and snuggled up against me. He was such a snuggly bub, just wanted his mummy.

Blinkie's going to the vets this afternoon. I spoke to another vet at the clinic and he said that Blinkie should probably get an injection to start him on treatment. He said that he'd rather i talk to the vet i saw with Oz about treating everyone but i'll talk to him again once i'm there. I'm kinda worried about Blinkie getting an injection, he's never had one and i'm scared it'll stress him too much and he'll die or something.

I was speaking to the receptionist, she was very nice. She said that i could see one of their other vets who aren't experts in birds/exotics but that they could copy what Sandy did with Ozzie. I don't want someone inexperienced jabbing a needle around Blinkie though. She said that if either of them get worse to come see one of the other vets and if not it would be best to wait till monday.

He's not drinking at all - so not getting his meds. Typical budgie! Blinkie's done some strange poos too now so i want him to go get a needle and start treating EVERYONE. I also want to know if there's a way that i can give them the meds directly into their beak rather than sitting around watching them not drink their medicated water. *edit* The vet i need to see isn't working all weekend!!!! I'm crying now because dad just told me "can you not go on these forums, they make you so f****** paranoid" because i said i was trying to figure out if Blink needs to go to the vet. He's not lost more weight but the fact that he's done a few poos like Oz was doing early in the week worries me. Ozzie's weight is hovering between 38g and 39g on the scales. I feel like i'm totally helpless because the vet i need to see to start Blinkie on treatment isn't going to be on till Monday and he's the one who i need to talk to about the best option to medicate the rest of my flock.

Do you know if it's safe to use with breeding/baby budgies? I want to treat them but don't want to harm the bubs. I know a vet clinic i can ring if need be for the meds, i don't think those will be hard to get. As everyone is currently healthy and behaving normally that's not my top priority. Ozzie is. If he's losing weight there's a reason, we should be seeing improvement and not further weight loss. As he's pooing normally he's got to be eating or else that wouldn't be possible. So WHY is he losing weight! I really need to speak to the vet who treated him in the first place so that he can decide what steps to take next.

What are you supposed to do if you can't get the permit for the aviary? This all seems very stupid for something as simple as an aviary for budgies.
  23. Bea replied to Bea's post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
Nope, not at all, they're back to what i would call normal. If it weren't for the weight loss he's behaving pretty normally. I called again, and was told that the vet would be on a break shortly and would ring me back....didn't happen. Too bad if my budgie was on deaths door and they kept me hanging this long - it's not very responsible and really bad service! I'd get a call god knows how many days later saying "returning your call" and i could respond "gee thanks, but the bird i needed help with *insert number of days* ago died! thanks again!" Will try again in the morning. If i can't get through and Oz has lost more weight i'll ring around and hopefully find another vet with bird experience. I'm guessing that the avian vet will be off for the weekend just because i need to talk to him. Blinkie is behaving very normally. I'm a softy and gave him his favourite mirror and filled the little cup on it with seed. He's been eating more as a result....might have to give Ozzie a mirror too, he'd love uninterupted mirror access. Blinkie usually butts in.
  24. Bea replied to Bea's post in a topic in Budgie Pictures
Yeah, that's the scary thing. He doesn't look sick, his poos are now back to what i would call normal looking but he's not eating properly and his weight is going down, it's reached 39g now which from his usual weight of 46-47g is crazy.
