No more crazy behaviour from those wild young aviary birds, there are babies present. We picked up more meds from the vets today and decided to just treat the lot for psittacosis so that we can get as many birds out of the house as possible. Mum doesn't like having too many in and my room was starting to smell. Not to mention it'll cut feeding/watering time in half in the morning for me which will be nice. Noah hasn't done a messy poo since i separated her last week so i think she may have just been stress or something. Anyway, here's some piccies of the bubs in the aviary. Ellie: Woah! This seed dish is way bigger than what we had before! Dimsim: Don't talk to me, intruder! Mumble: Aww, my cousin doesn't like me! Scamp: Mmm, perchy goodness Scamp: You mean licking perches ISN'T normal? Wow, my bad! The lovebirds, Spongebob and Akala who want nothing more than to spend 24 hours a day kissing and cuddling. Almost whole family photo, Noah wasn't in it, and obviously neither is Fizz (he's in Tim's room now). Noah - who has had a name change to something more girly. She's now called Missy. Tim heard me call her that and said i should make it her name, so i have. :hap: Ellie I managed to get father and daughter in the same picture, side by side. Missy Mumble, Dom, Jen, Ellie Love this picture, Missy was scratching her head and lost her balance, i snapped the picture as she fell, hahaha. Missy preening The albinos. Gerri and Pat on top perch, Mumble on the bottom.

"With each progressive molt, more and more of the budgie's feathers grow back clear. The budgie starts to look somewhat like a pied only with a more random, mottled pattern of clear feathers than the established varieties of pied." (from site that Elly posted) Doesn't this mean that it would lose black markings...

He doesn't seem to be a forum person really. It's hard with Fizz having to be in my room for the time being but he's spending time with Fizz and they're bonding.

Somehow Bailee didn't get into this photoshoot, probably because he was on my shoulder. Anyway, gave the budgies some veggies and Cookie was the first into it! Ozzie followed. Lord Blinkie was too preoccupied with his reflection (as usually) and Bailee was busy snuggling up to his mummy (me). Love this picture, looks like she ate something unpleasant! Ozzie comes to tell Blinkie he's being anti-social and unhealthy! Then Tim and Fizzy emerged from the front room and Fizzy followed Ozzie's good example. Blinkie actually did join in too but he ran to guard his mirror everytime me and the camera came near. :ausb:
  6. They're beautiful!! :ausb:

OMG!! You work there!! Talk about lucky, i LOVE that place. I agree, Sandy's a great vet, his days off are always the ones where i get sick birds though. :(Laughing out loud): That'd be really good to learn how to use a crop needle (though i'd be terrified that i was going to choke or kill the poor bird), i think dad wanted to go out and check the aviary out for himself sometime so, if that happens, i'll see if you're working that day. Thanks for the offer! It's so hard to say how Noah is going. Sometimes she'll do 100% normal poos, sometimes she'll do normal consistancy but black poos, and sometimes runny in either the green or black variety. Sometimes i look in and she's a bit fluffy, other times she's having a ball turning somersaults in the food bowl or against the bars, and sometimes she's just sitting like normal. I've had her under a lamp for the last two days (not nights) and that seems to have perked her up a bit, so will do that again tomorrow!

Yesterday they were all kind of runny but today they're looking normal but black - i wonder if she's been drinking her medicated water. Will keep an eye on her for sure.

Unfortunately i don't, i really should find someone who can teach me sometime. It would be so useful at times like this. I was checking on Noah in Tim's room and it would appear that she's done a black poo - that can't be good can it? I can't help but think of one one Gherkin and Buzz's babies who died unexpectedly at about this age... On a happier note Oz was pretty pleased to be back in the loungeroom. He zipped straight over to his and Blinkie's cage. Blinkie quickly joined him and gave him some greasy looks - i think he was having too much fun having the big cage all to himself. But after walking in circles around Oz a few times i think he remembered that they were buddies and he started smooching up to Oz. First thing Oz has done, is hop into the cage and run straight to Blinkie's honey seed stick, hahaha. That's my Ozzie.

Well the vet phoned back. He said it should be alright for Ozzie to rejoin Blink and the tiels seeing as he's been isolated for 2 weeks, has had an injection and on top of that all the birds are being treated for psittacosis anyway. So, that has solved the problem of where Noah can go, he's going to have to go into Tim's room. He said that i'm doing all the right things with Noah, keeping her warm and separate. And i've just got to hope for the best for now. He did suggest that i try syringe feeding her some watery egg and biscuit to try to get some food and water into her. I tried this last night and she wasn't fussed but i'll try again. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that Noah's a fighter and pulls through.

No idea what it could be to be perfectly honest. I've spoken to someone else and they told me it would be unwise to cut the meds short. I just phoned the vets and spoke to the receptionist. The avian vet is off till Monday which sucks!! I swear the receptionists there know me, i said this is Belinda, would it be possible to talk to Sandy and she was like hi Belinda, is your little bird sick again? She wasn't even the one who answered the phone 90% of the time i rang the last fortnight. Anyway, i explained what has happened and she's told me that she'll get the other vet that saw Blinkie to call me back when he's finished with his client. I said that i'm not sure if dad'll take me back, she was very understanding. i'm hoping the vet will say Noah really needs to come in cause then i can say to dad that the vet thinks he should see Noah and that might make him listen better. Now i just gotta wait for the vet to call.

I don't think it's psittacosis that Noah has, she doesn't seem to have the same symptoms as Ozzie did. I will call the vet though, i'm supposed to anyway to let him know how Oz is going.

I have a problem. Noah appears to be sick, not sure what with, but she's a little fluffy and her poos are a little off colour. Today she's been separated from her family with a warm lamp shining into the cage. None of the other babies or parents appear sick in any way at all and they never have. Problem: The only space for Noah's isolation cage is in my room, so not really isolated at all. She's near the other babies, the parents and the tiels. I'm not happy with this. What would be most conveniant at the moment would be for the other babies and the parents to go to the aviary, away from any sick birds. That way Ozzie (who appears 100% better, pooing normal, chirpy, playful, eating, gaining weight) and Fizzy can live side by side in the place where the babies currently are and Noah can go into proper isolation in my brothers bedroom. My concern is that the parents and babies have only been on meds for psittacosis (what Oz had) for a couple of weeks. However, they've never been in contact with Ozzie and Ozzie's never been in the same room as them. And like i said before, none have ever looked sick in any way at all. Would it be worth cutting the medication short to make space to properly isolate Noah? I think so but wanted to see what other peoples opinions were. I'm really really uncomfortable keeping Noah in my room when she's clearly not feeling well. The thought of the others in my room (and in turn Blinkie, cause he plays with the tiels and Fizz) becoming sick is just terrible. I wouldn't be worried about Oz sharing the room with the tiels as he is clearly better and the whole lot of them are being treated with the same stuff he is anyway.
