Going on holidays
Only thing is, i would be paranoid about her bird being sick! Thanks everyone for helping. I'm feeling a little better but i'll get stressed on Wednesday when Blinkie goes to my friends place..... Oh well, i'll be on a ship to Tassie and as i get really sea sick i'm sure that'll keep my mind of Blinkie!

Going on holidays
Blinkie has hung out with my friend a fair bit before. She was even going to take on of Blinkie's brothers. Wouldn't that have been fun for Blinkie to go stay with his bro for the holidays!

Going on holidays
This is my best friend. I trust her it's just i wish i knew someone who could put in the time that i think Blinkie needs. My other friends have birds and i don't want Blinkie exposed to them in case they're sick or something. This holiday is at a real bad time. Blinkie is beginning to say kissy... It's cute. My friend can keep up the talking lessons but will Blinkie respond to her or will the change in person just confuse him. I feel bad about being stressed because i have always trusted her with my birds and she has never let me down. It's just Blinkie is special! I'll tell her to have him out at every possible and safe moment!!!! She's coming over after school tomorrow so i can tell her what to do. And someone said to keep in touch, don't worry, i couldn't go a day without checking how Blinks is!!!! And about having an older person take care of Blinkie, all the older people i know well enough to trust them with my birdy are smokers and there is no way in the world i am putting Blinkie in a smokers house! *sigh* I wish i could bring Blinkie and Mickey with me! I always worry about Mickey on holidays and i can see it's not going to be any better with Blinkie!

Toys

Going on holidays
*sigh* I'm going to Tasmania for 2 weeks on Thursday and have to leave my budgies in the care of my friend. I don't mind about the outside birds but i am really stressed about leaving my little Blinkie! She isn't going to be able to spend anywhere near as much time playing with him as i do and she has little brotherswhich i don't really trust. Anyone got any tips on dealing with the stress this is causing me???

Toys
I just thought i might add a couple of things which Blinkie likes playing with. - Little folded up pieces of paper - The plastic fasteners you get on bread - A little piece of string These objects all have provided Blinkie with a lot of entertainment!!! Budgies aren't hard to pleas!

Tamer than I thought.....
Sounds like you've hit the jackpot! You lucky thing. If you handle them everyday they should stay fairly tame.

big enough?
Everything is fun when you do it with a friend! Me and my friend cleaned my house for money. It took a couple of hours but we still had fun!

Question about eacalyptus leaves
Hmmm....it wouldn't be very nice not having loads of trees around. I like trees. Yeah, i reckon your birds would love chewing the wooden toys. But are the toys expensive? You don't want to spend loads only to have your birds destroy them in a week or so.

Question about eacalyptus leaves
I haven't bought one of those but they look like they would provide a lot of entertainment!!! Only thing is, if your budgie chews through perches and things i really don't think those toys would last long. I also wouldn't pay for the perches (they're just ordinary sticks) or the gum leaves. There are other type of leaves which could be found locally at no cost.

Heavy moult
Most of my budgies are moulting at the moment (really smart as it is heading into winter) and 2 of them seem to be having a particularly heavy moult. They have loads of pin feathers on their head and are looking generally scruffy. I caught them to check them over and neither had lost weight or muscle. They also have some white feathers showing through their blue feathers. Is it normal for a budgie to go through a particularly heavy moult? I would take them to the vet to get a check up but there is now way dad is going to fork out $100 for just a check up and i spent all my money on a new cage for Blinkie. I thought they might have scaly face or something but their ceres and feet are in perfectly normal condition. Is there anything i can give them to help get through their moults a bit easilier? I read egg and biscuit food is good for conditioning feathers, is this correct? Sorry to ask so many questions but i am going on holidays on Thursday and would like a bit of peace of mind. The don't have cuts or anything that would point to them being picked on either.

Will a single pair Breed?
You will get blue babies from blue parents. You may get an albino and there are so many different types of blue, i've breed 10 babies from blue parents and only 2 have been the same colour. :bluebudgie: :bluebudgie:

handling the babys
I never handle the babies until they have a lot of spikey feathers, usually 2 1/2 - 3 weeks. I think they feel gross before then anyway! :bluebudgie:
