Well I meet my local Avian Vet
That would have been so great for her! Lovely and warm with some fresh air on the side! :glare:

Great...
Sounds really great! Just make sure you read up on what your getting into with breeding.

Great...
He lives in a lovely blue cage (matches his feathers) on the book case in the main family room. He can always see what's going on that way. His favourite place to hang out is at the computer while i'm on budgie forums! When i was trying to do school work with him on my shoulder, he kept flying back to the computer as if he was trying to say...boring! Let's look at budgies instead!!! He's inside because i wanted a friendly pet budgie that i could play with, so i took him from my last batch of babies.

Great...
So your budgie was flapping and hanging onto your finger at the same time? That's pretty normal, i think it's them having a bit of fun. Don't give up because of your mum. My parents aren't as into animals as me. They let me keep my budgies outside in an aviary but it took a bit of effort to get them to let me have Blinkie inside!

bad feathers
Oh no! Poor Peanut! Sending best wishes your way!

Well I meet my local Avian Vet
Where do you pick up a cheap one? I would be interested to know. Still sending good healing vibes Freckle's way!

3 weeks old- leaving nest....
As long as your cage is big enough then there will be no problems apart from the usual squabling over perches, toys and food. Glad your babies are doing well.

new baby
If your taming her then she'll probably grow out of it provided you completely ignore it when she bites, no matter how much it hurts don't utter a cry and don't jerk your finger away. She'll decide it's a fabulous game and keep doing it! I've always found that little girl budgies are the first to bite me when i handle them! And for little midgets they sure can bite hard!

3 weeks old- leaving nest....
Hooray! Blinkie had taught himself how to perch by the time he was 3 weeks...with a little help from me. He also taught himself to scratch behind his ear while sitting on a perch. Quite an achievement at the time!!! At 3 weeks you'll find they may be getting quite clever but they'll definitely still be needed their parents to feed them. So don't take them away from their parents until they're about 6 weeks old...or until they're feeding themselves with no parent feedings. Whichever comes first.

Cuttlefish
Gee...i wish Blinkie was considerate enough to scrape the soft side! I have to hear the fingernails on blackboard sound everytime he uses his cuttlefish! :bluebudgie: :bluebudgie: :(Laughing out loud):

Well I meet my local Avian Vet
Poor little darling...she looks pooped! (((hugs))) for Freckle. Rainbow-when Jem got sick the vet told me to have a heat lamp on her cage so she wasn't wasting energy on trying to stay warm.

Cuttlefish
Thanks for your help guys! :fear Chirpy, how on earth can you stand the noise the cuttlefish makes when you scrape it? It makes me shiver!!!!

boy or girl
So are you saying your bird was the wrong colour because when you tried to breed them they didn't do anything? How long did you give them. Think about it like this....if you throw 2 humans in a room together they're not going to instantly be friends, they need to get to know each other first. Same with budgies...it can take a few weeks or more for the first eggie to appear. Then again some budgies just don't get on. You would be able to tell.

Cuttlefish
I was wondering if there is an expiry date on cuttle fish? It takes my budgies ages to eat them but they're always getting used so i was wondering if they go off or anything?

2 males 1 female
:(Laughing out loud): Don't worry Rainbow. I read that when i was trying to find out about colony breeding! :(Laughing out loud):

Well I meet my local Avian Vet
I think you should leave the lamp on all night. Unless it is one that overheats easily and could cause a fire. Night time is colder than in the day so i guess it would be more important to keep her warm. You don't want her wasting all her energy.

VISION 210
Too true! And it's such a pity that people are substituting their pets well being for how attractive they make their homes look.
