  1. It only took 5 mins to treat all my budgies. Not long at all! :oliveb: Only downside is i think it makes sense to keep the babies inside until i've done the second treatment which means bringing another cage into my bedroom! :bluebudgie:
  2. Welcome to the forums! :bluebudgie:
  3. Hmm...yes, fun!
  4. Probably not. Tirikke isd the first case of mites i've had in any of my budgies and they've been living outside for over a year. The vet suggested that the budgies probably had parrot visitors popping down to say hello (which is true, we get rosellas in our yard) and that's where the mites come from. The mites can live on your birds without showing and infect others but i doubt with a single bird it would be a problem unless it already has mites to begin with.

Here's Blinks cage: I think it's pretty cool and it matches his colour. :bluebudgie:
  8. Hehe...i started reading and though 'hmm, haven't i read this already today??', then i noticed where you got it from! :(Laughing out loud):

I think indoor budgies sometimes moult almost constantly because of the steady temperature. It sure is annoying but in the end they are birds and that's what birds do. :bluebudgie:
  10. Took Tirikke to the vets this morning. Got some ivermectin to put on the back of neck of ALL the aviary birds! :bluebudgie: Will take some time, i'm going to do that later when my friend comes over cause it's a 2 person job. The vet didn't say anything about disinfecting everything. Just said to treat them all now and again in a month. To all the Canberra members and everyone else here's a link to my vets page: www.canberravet.com.au. It's the best vet i've ever come across and they know so much about birds as well as a bazillion other animals. The site itself is really helpful with lots of info and stuff so i thought you'd like to check it out.

Mon Mon, that's it! We need Nerwen or Rainbow, they're the people to ask about colours! I would guess something like yellow face type 2 clearwing. Believe me, that's just a huuuge guess.

Well some of those cotton bud sticks would be handy and some tweezers and corn flour. I can't say i've ever had to pull out a broken blood feather either but i think there's a certain way to pull it.
  13. Still waiting to go to the vets. We are going tomorrow cause dads working today. He ofcourse said can't we just get some of that stuff from the pet shop so i had to lecture him on pet shop products. He looked at Tirikke this morning and said "ergh!" so he can see the need to go. I'm just happy he agreed to take her, i was so scared he'd just say use the pet shop stuff.

He sounds sick. Normal un-tamed budgies just don't allow themselves to be picked up and the don't stay on the floor. Hope it's not too bad and he gets over it real quick.

So did they come in those gross conditions? Poor things, glad they're with you now. I think anything would make a better toy than nothing and string together plastic jar lids is very creative. From what i can see they are very cute budgies, can you get a picture tomorrow when it's lighter? Pleeease.

Yep, you've been gone way too long! How's Seth and ..... forgot the other ones name! You'll have to post piccies of them all. Can't wait for some smarty bum to say what the little one up there is cause he's real pretty and i'm curious now!

Well he's very cute! Not sure of his actual colour though.
  18. Yeah, all their beaks appear to be in perfect condition.
  19. I thought of something!!!! For the last few weeks i've been having trouble with Razzo and Gerri wanting to breed. Gerri has been emptying seed cups and laying eggs (stopped now). So what type of seed cups do you use? The cuppy ones that they could sit in?
  20. I feel really bad that i didn't notice sooner. Hope it clears up fast once we get the treatment. How long does it usually take to clear up? Also, the way it looks like honeycomb, with all the little holes. Are they mite tunnels or something? if not, what are they?
  21. Am i right in guessing that this is really bad scaly face? I noticed Tirikke like this today. I only noticed because she wasn't being her usual flighty self and was sitting still and i thought she was breathing funny. Obviously i noticed something was wrong with all the crustiness so i captured her to see if it was perhaps blocking her nostrils. Thankfully it isn't. She's in a small cage in my room at the moment and as soon as dad gets home we'll hopefully get her to the vet for some treatment. Her legs aren't scaly, i thought that both the legs and face got scaly with the scaly face mite? I'm also thankful that none of the other budgies seem to have any signs of it which i suppose is because she's a real loner who has no friends. Is there anything i can do for her until dad gets home? It looks really irritating.

How exciting!! Can't wait to see what they look like!

Do they have red eyes? If they have red eyes then the males will have pink ceres and the females will have brown or tan or possibly very light bluish white ceres. If they have black eyes then i'm pretty sure the males will have blue ceres and the females will have brown, tan or light blue ceres (same with all females regardless of colour). Hope this helps.
  24. I can't think of anything that you're not already doing. Sounds very noisy and messy at your house at the moment.
