This morning before i left i said to Blinkie "Hey sexy butt, i'll get you a new toy this arvo! Be good!" and being the generous person i am.....i got him two!! He got a circle thingy with 3 bells hanging off it and a little hoop with some jangley plastic rings on it. Of course sexy butt is scared of them and when i first put them in the cage he swung upside down away from them and just hung there glaring at them....some gratitude would be nice Blinks! I wanted to get him a new rope perch but i wanted a little one and they only had big ones. Also got some budgie crumbles/pellets which i plan to offer him occasionally in his bouncy-head birdy dish. I think he might of had a nibble already.

I think boy, most of it is even and purply.

That's sad that none hatched but if she was already looking worn out after just sitting on eggs then maybe it's good she doesn't have all those extra mouths to feed.

I have one hen who lost all but one toe when i tried to colony breed and she is still just as cheeky and happy as all the other budgies.

Does anyone else collect their budgies feathers when they moult? I've been collecting them since Blinkie's first moult and i came home today to find mum had been messing around with the bird stuff and had 'accidently' tipped more than half down the sink thinking the container was empty (she's nearly blind). :ausb: I could positively kill her right now, she had no business touching that stuff and now months and months of feather collecting have gone to waste and she hardly gives a ****!!!! I nearly had enough to make a nice fluffy Blinkie feather bookmark too.

I've seen seizures in one of my budgies as they were dying and it was the most terrifying thingi've ever seen and it really disturbed me. :ausb: I hope never to see it again.

My budgies don't like cucumber. They'll go for nearly anything green and leafy and they also like carrot. Capsicum is the evil food from *** not to be touched so i gave up with that but for some reason they'll eat carrot even though it's not green...i just can't figuire out their logic. :mellow:

Aww, poor Hommer. Diet time!! Lot's of exercise and healthy foods. Does he fly around much or just sit/lay around?

Where'd you get that picture?? If it was on ebay was that cage advertised as a budgie cage?

Here's a photo that shows a baby boy and baby girl together. On the left is female and right is male.

How do you know they don't eat them? Seeing as you only have 2 budgies i would measure their seed, each budgie needs 2 teaspoons of seed a day but i would put an extra one in just incase one is feeling greedy. By measuring you make them eat all the types of seed instead of just their favourites.

How long has the nest box been in? As your budgies are bonding and being lovey then i would leave them together for as long as you want and take away the box if you think they are getting stressed by the whole situation. If they weren't bonded to start with and hadn't showed any signs of bonding after a month i would take away the box.

So that's a good reason to ditch those toys then. I just have to say that Gumnut and Wattle are THE most gorgeous names!! You should post some photos of them in the pictures forum.

Incredible cage!!! And you got it so much cheaper than it sells in stores. It's also really attractive. Didn't you only get a huge cage for your budgies quite recently.

That's great that she's so trusting. I would never spend that long trying to be friends with a person but i think i would with just about any animal.
