  1. Hi! Welcome to the forums. I don't think i would separate them as they would get lonely but i would do individual taming sessions. Can you get them out of the cage at all? At worst you would have to towel one and take it into a small room (bathroom, toilet) and remove any dangers (cover mirrors, close toilet). The room should have preferably very few places for the budgie to land on but you. Wait for it to settle somewhere and then approach it with your eyes down (so your not stalking it) and talking in a soothing voice. If you can get nice and close to it just sit beside it and talk to it until it's completely relaxed. Eventually as they become more comfy around you you can start offering your finger for them to sit on and once they go on your finger reward them with millet. Keep training sessions to no more than 10 - 15 mins and if the bird just doesn't settle down put it back in the cage and try a different method. By training the birds separately they can't turn to each other for security and as they are in a strange room you're the most familiar thing. :ausb:

Well definitely Blinkie's mummy cause without her Blinkie wouldn't have been made and Blinkie's sister and all his other family (which is most of my birds) the all of Buzz's family because she's my big fatty gal and i just wouldn't be without my darling Gherky Boy! :ausb: That covers all of them i think!

Urrm...well, she thinks seed boxes would make ideal nest boxes so she destroys the spout and climbs in. Then because she has no toenails she can't scramble out too easily (though she manages) so often she just sits in their for a while. All you unlucky people not getting a free budgie in your trill! I sometimes get 2! :(Laughing out loud):
  5. Waaaah! That's beautiful, i've gone all teary.

Ripped off Terri! Demand a refund.
  7. Now when you buy a 2kg box of Trill not only will you get good quality seed but you'll also get a free budgie! Note: Possible side effects - seed boxes tend to come half empty because your free budgie needs to eat!
  8. :ausb: That last photo is GORGEOUS!! I also thought i was going to see a budgie completely missing a wing.

3 - 4 weeks is how long i usually leave mine together, if they haven't started kissing and preening each other then i would try a new male. Also if either of the budgies seem extremely stressed you should remove it and try another.

Eww...we used to have to put pepper up Tim's nose because he kept getting LEGO man heads stuck up there. :(Laughing out loud): I never get things stuck in my nose so there's nothing of any interest up there for Blinkie to be enjoying.

Has the bleeding stopped now? If not you could put some corn flour on it which helps to stop bleeding (i think normal flour is fine too). It should be fine with it's parents just make sure there's no more attacks. If there is then you should remove it.

By the sound of it you are colony breeding which a lot of people don't like for this exact reason, the hens fight. The 4 week old babies can be separated into a separate cage with their dad because at that age their dad is the main carer. The others you can either hand rear yourself (you would need someone experienced to show you how or you could try fostering the newest chicks into the nest with the 2 week old babies then removing the other hen. That's all i can really think of. Hope it helps. You should probably have some handrearing mix and a syringe on hand just incase the dads won't feed the babies or for some other reason you need to take over. By the way, i've moved this topic to where more people with breeding experience are likely to see it.

Pfft! I came home after being out all day and guess what's instantly up my nostril? Yep, that annoying little birdy beak.

A breeder would definitely be the best place to get a breeding hen cause you could possibly already get an experienced mother and you'll be able to get information on her parents and stuff.

Oh, if that's what he's looking for i guess he's out of luck.

I don't! : The only things up there were my treasured gold nuggets but he stole them this afternoon.
  20. Blinkie has developed the filthy habit of nose picking....his and mine. Anything i do he just want to have his beak up my nostril. It's irritating and i'm certain it's unhealthy for him! Not matter how i try to stop him he just comes back! The only thing i can do is hold a finger in front of my nose blocking it but then my finger gets bitten....HARD! Help?
  21. (Laughing out loud)! I think this is getting to the point where the only thing you can do is laugh. Have you tried giving them a clutch of white marbles or fake eggs so they can sit on them all they like and nothing will hatch?

If they're mating maybe Sky's going to lay an egg and that's why her droppings are larger. Definitely separate them, they are far too young to be breeding.
  23. Go Jim! You're the most beautiful christmas tree angel i've ever seen! :fear

I've only seen really big poops in breeding hens who are spending all their time in the nest box. Not sure what would cause it otherwise.

12 weeks is still a baby, keep working with him and i'm sure you'll end up with a tame budgie. :fear
