the only worry i have is if your birds get overweight it is recomended that the perchs are high and the food is placed on the floor as this is were they get the best exercise from flying up not across

ive just removed a chick thaat was 5 weeks old when i did the hen was already sitting on 4 eggs the first two fertile 4 to 5 weeks is the norm as for dad 12 months solid is a very long time are you breeding in an aviary if so i would remove all nest boxs if you cant do that put him in a cage on his own for a couple of months

you should only move eggs to another hen if she already has them if there are no eggs in the nest she will know its another hen has laid it and probably destroy it

sometimes the hen does not start to incubate untill after the second egg is laid so the first could be around 20 days so dont worry if they dont hatch after 18 moulting is a stressfull time and normally the birds arnt in breeding condition so i would candle the eggs after 4 to 6 days to see if they are fertile
  10. i dont know about this mine are on a seed diet and i would be worried if they were green, first stress then enteritis would be my geuss if it doesnt change after a couple of days or gets a really bad smell take it to a vet as enteritus is fatal

their a couple of thoughts on it one not enough calcium when in the egg or the hen sits to tight i have just had one out of a pair of birds that have had 6 rounds of eggs over the years and this is the first and only one from these birds i checked my records and these birds have had 22 chicks with this being the only one i lean towards the calcium idea as this was the last planned time to use this hen in my breeding programme as she was at the age when i retire my hens for health reasons

small amount of baby shampoo but keep it away from eyes this is what a lot of breeders of albinos use to clean them for shows mix it with warm water wash the bird then use three containers of clean warm water and rinse the bird out in these works a treat

did you check the floor of the cage in case the mother pulled the chick out by accident
  22. hath replied to a post in a topic in Breeding Tips
mothers dont eat dead chicks you need to take it out now or you could contaminate the other chicks and they will die

i totaly agree any animal charity that spends millions building new head offices and pays their top person hundreds of thousands and then lays of inspectors is a joke

this sounds like enteritis - diarrhoea loose green and watery discharge from the nostrils (could this be the goo on its face).if it is and it is not treated it is fatal keep this bird ina warm place at least 25c and try to get it to the vets soonast until you can try giving it cold black tea with a little sugar but the heat is the most important
