  1. I agree with what the others are saying that you should not be getting more birds for the moment. I have a money tin with a lot of money just for my birds as dad refuses to pay for vet bills. I suggest you put half your allowance aside for emergancies with your budgies. Or something like that. We are not trying to be mean. We are just trying to help. I myself have a low opinion of mot pet stores and would not recommend asking for advice there unless you know they have a lot of experience.
  2. Some may disagree with me but that is my opinion.
  3. I suggest you take out the nesting box and take some time to research. Breeding is a lot of responsibility and hard work. It will cost you more than you bargained and much more than you will earn from any potentional chicks.
  4. Hi! Have a look around, it is a great forum! Your budgie is violet by the sound of it. We would be able to tell you the gender if you posted a picture.
  5. Could the green staining be lead poisoning? I agree pet stores usually have no experience. I have had birds die because of their advice ( they told me not to worry about separating them ).
  6. That is why they are dying. Quarantine stops illness from spreading.
  7. Did you quarantine?
  8. Do youu see why I hate pet stores now?
  9. Hope all will be well!
  10. What happened!?

    Ummm, WRONG! Uh... Squeak_Crumble?
  12. That is why you ended up with infertile eggs. The hen is probably not in condition. Are you sure of the age?
  13. Leave them.
  14. Awww.. That is a great story!
  15. Ditto... SHE! I have seen that before in a picture on the internet. Some sort of bacterial thing. Or it may just be a bruise.
  16. Poor thing. With chickens you can make little 'boots' for a similar condition. It straightens them out so they can walk properly. I attempted this with Marigold and it did work for a while, until she got it off. I feel so sorry for the guy. What did the vet say? I agree stroke is possible, I read somewhere that after a stroke they can struggle to grip the perch.
  17. Something to do with the nerves? It sounds like what Marigold did. She only had one foot like that though.
  18. The cage is inadaquate for housing a budgie. I have my eye on a really good cage for my budgies. It has a stand which can be used for a storage area. It would be high enough so a toddler can't reach and low enough for your older kids. I hope you find a breeder! PS. Here is why I don't like pet stores. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....mp;#entry344310 http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....mp;#entry345840 I went to another pet store the other day and there was a galah in a small cage. The bottom hadn't been cleaned out for who knows how long. It was the same with the other birds.
  19. I think it is because corn resembles seed. Mine hull it. They chew on it and get all of it out, then drop it. Mine are into carrot tops.
  20. Can you post a pikky of the cage? Budgies can be fed canary feed but have to have a staple diet of pellets or seed with veggies, fruits and eggfood. I know how you feel about pet stores. If you can't get a picture can you post the measurements on here? Did I mention welcome?
  21. That is why she is so calm in the pics.
  22. Why did you call the hen Beanbag?
  23. Welcome! Budgies are wonderful pets. Fist of all, don't get your new buddy just yet. You'll need to find a breeder, not a pet store. Others may disagree with me on that one, but I have my reasons for not liking pet stores. You'll need a decent cage. Here is a link on the cages. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=17858 You also need to research on the correct diet, which is NOT just seed. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=6795 More members will give you advice.
