Going soft?! What's his name? He's cute and has a new MUMMY.

I had the same thing with quarantining my budgie. Now it is all right because I gave them a lecture on budgie illnesses and how long they can stay undetected. So now they won't let me get more because they're scared that they will pass on illnesses. I agree, a nest box or ice cream container. Feel the crop to see if he is eating. He wll need extra warmth.

I have heard off this site that romanian lettuce and leaf lettuce is okay. I use it in their foraging toys as they don't usually eat the 'prizes', just let them drop.

Male! What a cutie... hope you remembered quarantine. Yes, make sure he's eating as he is very very young.

I prefer to syringe my budgies. They love it lol.

Agreed. The nest box is totally unecessary and dangerous. Hens will fight over the box and you will have underaged budgies in there as well, leading to health complications.

Not quarantining will be the source of your problem. This is exactly why we quarantine. Other members will have more to add on the subject of quarantine I'd imagine.

When young I meant just young, not a specific age group.

A df spangle is a double factor spangle. A normal spangle is a single factor. The df gene in spangles as I understand reverses the markings. A df spangle can be bred from two sf spangles, a df and an sf and two df's. Hopefully someone else can put some light on the subject.

She may not see them as her chicks any more. It is usually the hen. The cock lunging was probably him trying to feed the chick.

I agree.... what kind of idiot came up with a birdy diaper?!

I've just started breeding, does that count? I keep them as pets too. They are pretty tame, except for Skye. Lucky mum was tolerant when I bred, poor thing had to put up with my big head peering in the nest box.
  21. My mauve budgie, Thimble, is turning bright blue! She also has deep violet tail feathers? She only has a few blue feathers on her rump, but she is currently going through 1st moult. The blue is the exact colour as her dad. She also has grey cheek patches. She is breaking her cap at the moment.

    Yep!

Male, boys are pink as babies.
  24. My budgies also love to forage for fallen greens. Marigold has taken to jumping in the seed dish while I am attempting to hook it on the bars and kicking out the seed before I can give it to them. I have a pull out tray, but I have newspaper over the grate so they can forage. My lot have now taken to foraging for treats inside newspaper rolls (non toxic ) and they mostly drop the treats.
