We only live on a half farm. AB, I will tell Amy that! Wow, GB, that is a lot of animals. Amy acts like a guard sheep, once a man came looking for his dog and he got out of his car. He drove off very quickly when Amy came!
  2. Only just started I think.... I am starting to see pin feathers and a lot of downy feathers at the bottom of the cage.

There's no mutation as far as I can see. That's the point of normal.

That must have been quite a sight!

I've had my pet sheep for 7 years. She was rescued from next door as a two day old lamb. Her name is Amy. She is extremely smart! I didn't think anything of it until I came across an internet arguement on how dumb sheep were. She is probably smarter than your average dog. She can: unlatch the gate ( we have a safety latch now), she knows where her oats are kept, comes when shes called, peforms tricks, know when we're going away for a long time ( she runs after the car when we're going away for a long time), hates the shearer and does all sorts of things. She is like a family pet dog that I can never have ( allergies). So, who thinks sheep are dumb now?
  6. No..... Dad got anxious because my cockatiel flew away and wanted to clip them. He was shown how to clip by someone who owns a budgie. I will tell him that.
  7. What about the flights?
  8. I'll be right onto it! Taken just now. Some are a bit blurry. Some I used the flash and some are natural to show different lights. Oh, and yes he does have his wings clipped, but that doesn't matter because both Marigold and Skye have the same pattern, body colour through the flights. http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy62/Ratzy_2009/103.jpg http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy62/Ratzy_2009/104.jpg http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy62/Ratzy_2009/102.jpg

No, I don't think so. Just tell her to remember quarantine.
  11. All of them have pink legs except for the father. Could it be rec pied going through the family? I think rec pieds have pink legs. I'm confused with my mauve chick as well. She has a navy blue tail with a few bands of lighter colour, hardly noticeable, and grey cheek patches.

What a recovery! Glad she made it.

Well, Marigold is not the tamest either...... but she is getting to trust me a bit. I had to suringe water her while she had a sore foot ( almost all healed now, when I have her on my hand you can only just feel the weight difference ) and now she comes over to chew on the end of the suringe. It is very useful to have budgies that love the suringe when it comes to worming. Marigold is an adult budgie yet I am still taming her. Maybe you could get her to eat from you? The trick is not to stare at them else they get agitated. Skye isn't a tame bird either but he doesn't mind me being there. I have bath time inside so I'm training them to get in the travel cage by themselves. Maybe try just being near the cage and gradually put your hand in?

My favourite is a tie between Marigold and Thimble. Marigold has come so far, raising her own clutch and re-learning how to fly ( she had her wings done as a baby birdy is my guess- she has never been able to fly that well ) and Thimble being my first baby and the tamest. When I do the food she always comes to get a drink from my suringe ( it is really useful when worming if all the birds come over to medicate themselves) and chew on me. Marigold is steadily taming, she'll never be the one that comes for cuddles, but I don't care.

I love frogs too! We have loads of southern brown tree frogs round here as well as some small species of burrowing frog. Do green tree frogs shed they're skin? I went into a pet shop and they were woried because part of its skin changed colour. Good to know they care about they're animals.
  16. All pied budgerigars are characterised by having irregular patches of completely clear feathers appearing anywhere in the body, head or wings. These clear feathers are pure white in blue series birds and yellow in birds ofthe green series. Such patches are completely devoid of black melanin pigment. The remainder of the body is co loured normally. The Clearflight Pied has two main characteristics: a clear patch at the nape of the neck and, ideally, completely clear primary flight and long tail feathers. All other features are normal. clear flight pieds have also white cheak patches and pink feet however with all the miss breedingbetween doms and clear flight pieds we have ended up lossing the true clearflight traits you bird is a clearflight pied as does not have the spot on head kaz is a dom pied i could be wrong the only way to truley know is to breed your pied to a rec pied if its clearflighted pied you will get black eyed clears if not then its dom All my budgies have pink feet except Skye, I thought it was normal for normals?
  17. Did you quarantine? He lovely!

I'm going to laminate some health sheets for them. I don't think they'll listen to me though.

I haven't been into my local pet shop for a long time, but yesterday I went in. I went over to the 'pied section. Three budgies in there were not pieds at all! One df spangle, one yf normal and clearwing! The clearwing was in bad shape. It was long flighted, was bleeding heavily, obviously had french moult, overgrown beak, not to mention it was visually sick! He was just one of the visually sick ones! So, I tried to walk away, but I just couldn't! I waited for an employee to come and I asked them where they bought that bird. She asked me why so I told her it shouldn't be in with the other birds and I told her the medical problems it had. She agreed with me then said 'I would have no idea'! I want to help the birds in there, could I offer to help out or something?

Could they be nesting? that would explain why they were swooping. They would also have to hunt more often.

Are they in breeding condition? Does Kassy still have the staining?
  24. Did you put the second hen in with the others straight away? Is the last cock grey wing?

I started to have a second round but dad addled the eggs and Marigold didn't want to sit on them after that. I'm keeping two now, but one is being kept in my cage for the moment. My budgies are thin at the moment, I can just feel their keel bones, so I am fattining them up a bit with more seeds. I thought about incubating the eggs, but I don't think any would've hatched and if theydid I wouldn't be able to feed them. I'm babling now.... how did your second round go?
