    Hi Bianca..........
  2. Hi LBB First egg was laid on the 9th of September, then 1 every other day after that.......I'll leave it til the weekend and see what happens.... Thanks Anne
  3. Well.....still no babies..... I tried to candle the eggs today, first time I have done it....4 I could not see through and 1 I could, I took the one that was see through out, it was empty....I'll wait a few more days and see what happens....
  4. WOW Dave that's amazing.......Thank you for explaining... Dek21...did any eggs hatch?
  5. STUNNING !!!!
  6. LOVE IT G_B!! "The rainbow connection"...... Photos are great!! Love this one........
  7. Best of luck M6B......Hope all goes well for you and you are back on the forum soon..... Take care... Anne
  8. Thank you so much G_B for your kind words of encouragement... I know that I have learnt from this not to over react, which is what I did, but yes it has all worked out well.....
  9. Good for you Richo..... I love yoga, and I'm really glad it has helped you...It with massage has cured me of my sciatica that was very bad as well... I completed a 1 year massage course a few years ago and I know that helps a lot of people as well, so long as you find a good one..... I'm a yogi for life as well!!
  10. okay Kaz, thank you... I will take him out today...
  11. I have 2 others paired up, but I only paired them up on Friday..... I have had the hens in the breeding cages for 2 weeks, but only put the cocks in yesterday...
  12. No Kaz....same seed - veg - egg and biscuit..... Do you think I should take him out? Will the hen manage on her own?
  13. Hi All... I understand that budgies moult a few times a year.....does anyone keep a record of when each bird moults? I ask this because my DEC cock that is in a breeding cage at the moment with a hen with 5 eggs I have noticed is starting to moult......Do you keep a track of when each bird is going to moult? I know they should not breed when moulting, but when he was paired up weeks ago there was no sign..... How do the experienced breeders deal with this? And what should I do now....I will make sure he gets extra veg and egg and biscuit.....anything else I can do, and how can I prevent this happening in the future? Thanks in advance. Anne
  14. Thanks Dave and Kaz, Yes...seed and millet have been in the nesting box. Cricket is eating seed and egg and biscuit on her own, she even tried a bit of spinach and carrot.... I had to clean up dad he had a small gash on his wing but is fine now, the bleeding stopped with white pepper.....I took mum to the vet yesterday afternoon as she had a cut near her eye that I wasn't confident in treating, it turns out that it wasn't as bad as it looked, he cleaned her up and all seems okay for now.... I have cricket and dad in a cage inside and I have mum in the hospital cage in my sons room, so they can't hear each other, so for now it's all working fine...
  15. I had a feeling mum was not in the nest enough....and I've never seen dad in there.....I checked baby yesterday morning but did not pick her up....I went out to do water and seed and mum and dad had been fighting.....bit of blood.....I got cricket out of the box and she is quite thin and not warm, I don't think she is getting fed, she hasn't been attacked I just think she has been abandoned... I "bit the bullet" and put mum and dad into the avairy, cricket is inside with a lamp and seed and millet on the floor, I have a upturned ice cream container with bedding, I have some Vetafarm NEOCARE hand rearing formula, which I mixed with hot tap water, she wasn't very interested even though her crop seems empty, I will try again every hour.... I hope I have done the right thing.....
  16. - This thread proves a point to me....that I should always have a few pairs breeding at the same time.....if you didn't you would have to hand raise them...... Poor little babies......I hope they all recover Kaz....
  17. Hi everyone, Well Cricket is 4 weeks old tomorrow, she is still in the nesting box. I am a bit concerned because mum is trying to break out of the cage and dad is trying to mate again...... Should I just leave everything as it is? should I remove mum and keep an eye on dad to make sure he feeds her? Thanks in advance. Anne
