Well out of this clutch I got.... 1 DEC..... And 2 recessives?? NO 1 NO 2

Well 5 out of the 6 eggs hatched, so I'm pretty stoked about that. This photo was taken this afternoon of the babies, I will take the egg out on Saturday I don't think it will hatch now....

Thanks Liv....There is no baldness around the cere, just like pin feathers coming through on the tops of their heads, they only moulted a few months ago, so I was just putting it down to the change in seed? Well I HAVE heard that a seed change will induce a moult from very experienced breeders. I am just changing my seed mix this week for my aviary birds, I will let you know if they go into a moult over the next week or so. Thanks Renee....that would be great..

Hi thk, I'm sorry I'm not experienced enough to give you any advice... I hope Charlie is going to be okay.....

I have learnt from here that a change in seed will force a moult, and this is true... I bought a 25kg bag of seed a few months ago, and went to the same produce shop to get another a few weeks ago, they didn't seem to have the same one, I asked the shop keeper and he said it was the same just a different bag......well it wasn't, so now 80% of my birds are moulting.....is it the "mix" that forces a moult? If so if I were to buy seperate bages of different seed would that minimize this issue for me? What is the best mix I can do myself? Thanks Anne :hug:

Some pics of my new babies..... Mum Skipper (left) Dad J.T (middle) with their bushie buddy!! I know that Skipper's (mum) mother was a Dominant Pied, don't know about dad, and I don't know about J.T's parents so it will be a surprise to see what I get! I'm giving mum and dad fresh seed and water every morning and wet egg and biscuit and fresh veg in the afternoons...6 eggs and 5 have hatched 1 to go? The last picture was a bit of a fluke as the bubs are youngest to oldest in a row....quite cute I thought.... :hug:

Krosp... I am so so sorry to hear about Cosmo... I leave the heat lamp on 24/7, I did when I had a sick baby not so long ago, don't worry about them not getting any dark, he needs the heat more.. You should be able to get Sulfa-D in a big pet shop/Produce shop, if you have any problems getting it I can get it for you and bring it to you today (I notice your in Brissie too), there is a new "Backyard Farmers" shop right near me and I know they have it...just PM me. Please keep us updated and I am praying and sending strong thoughts to you and little Cosmo.. Anne

Thanks so much everyone.... I don't think budgie breeding is my "calling", I am on a real downer at the moment loosing Cricket and now Budda.... I tried everything with Cricket and she still died, and now I have lost my best old man....... I think I might have a break for a while....I have 3 chicks at the moment and a hen with 7 eggs so once they are all hatched.... no more....... To be honest Richo...I'm not sure, but I do know well into his retirement.......I am very very sad, I lost a chick a few weeks ago and now Budda......plus today is my birthday.. Worst birthday ever......... Thank you Ross, he was beautiful......

I lookes at chick number 3 this afternoon and the feathers coming out of the "marked patch" on it's head the feathers are all yellow.....??? no other colour coming through yet.....??? so you might be right G_B!! Get a new picture tomorrow....
