  8. I have 2 clutches with chicks hatching at the moment, and 1 clutch with chicks at 6 weeks. Th clutch with the chicks a 6 weeks mum has gone for a second round with 3 chicks still in the nestbox. I removed the chicks to the floor of the cage on Saturday as they are all feathered and eating seed/millet/egg biscuit, mum has 2 eggs in there and I really didn't want her to go a second round as it will be too hot, but I don't have the heart to remove them.... My question is for the 2 clutches I have where the chicks are hatching, can I remove the nestbox once the chicks are feathered so this doesn't happen with them? This is the second time it has happened to me...is this the "norm" when it comes to breeding? Thanks in advance.. :laughter:
  9. Kaz....I learnt this off you a few months ago and the last lot of chicks I had were eating seed before leaving the box so it's great...thank you... I put a millet spray in the box as the chicks are hatching for mum....is this okay?..., I need to change it every other day so she is eating it...once all the chicks have hatched and are starting to get pin feathers I put oats as the nesting material and add millet every day and put in a cup of seed....
