Billy And Grace
Thanks again G_B.....and your words are so very correct. It is my goal now to be taught how to do this by someone, I have posted a tread here for Breeders in my area and I will call avain vets next week, I don't care if I have to pay, there is someone out there that can teach me.....If I knew this my baby girl might still be alive tonight... I agree with you to, she went downhill fast after dad hurt her leg and beat her up.....

I've only had to go to the vet once and mum and dad paid. Then you are very lucky, so unless you know how to raise young birds that have been rejected by the parents you will rely on vets as I just did, $160.00 later with not even a baby bird left..... So glad that your parents will pay... Good luck

Well things are not going too well...... :ohmygod: Mum healed nicely, but dad did not feed Cricket and he attacked her......I removed him straight away and put him in the avairy..... Cricket has been in a cage inside with a heat lamp since Sunday, I was concerned that she wasn't really eating the seed as I could not find any husks. I changed her seed to a finch/canary mix and crumbled up millett spray, water, dry egg and biscuit, wet egg and biscuit, and with the advice of DrNat, I have been trying to get her to eat some wet egg and biscuit using the flat end of a toothpick, without much luck, she is very weak and is still not perching as dad has hurt her leg. I couldn't take it any longer just watching her so I took her to the vet this afternoon, it wasn't an avain vet just a normal vet....she said she holds little hope for her, that there is a bird hospital around here somewhere but the stress of taking and leaving her there might be to much. She weighed her...she weighs 25g, gave her an injection of ADEC, a vitamin, she said her leg is not broken just sprained....some "Wombaroo Granivore rearing mix", that I am supposed to feed her...I have been trying every half an hour with little success, I am so scared I will get it in her lungs... I feel so sad, I feel as if I have just done everything wrong....I don't know what else to do.... Maybe mum and dad rejected her for a reason and I need to take her to be put to sleep.....

Love At First Sight
http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en Ratzy...please read the above link...with my first proper breeding attempt my hen laid 6 eggs 1 hatched and she ended up at the vet after fighting with the cock when the chick was 4 weeks old, I took her to the vet as she had a gash near her eye.....$70 later she is on the mend....but if mum and dad don't understand the reason for Quarentine, will they take you and your bird to the vet and fork out the dollars?? I'm 42 years old and I can afford to fund my "hobby", I have been on this site since April 08 and read FAQ's etc for months prior to even thinking about breeding properly...so even after a full year of reading and asking questions I still am "new" at all this with very limited knowledge... Any of the breeders on this site will tell you it's not as simple as putting 2 birds together and ending up with beautiful chicks.... I wish you all the best....

Hi LBB First egg was laid on the 9th of September, then 1 every other day after that.......I'll leave it til the weekend and see what happens.... Thanks Anne do not tose out hen will do that if not good or when she feels its not going to hatch she will do this when she lays a second round k i say this as i usto kill many chicks thinking they were week over i write dates and all and to be honest i killed an over due today it was 5 days over would have hatch in about two days going by its development its sad takes a few breaths and gone but i open all my discarded or over due eggs see how far they were just sometimes their late bloomers ,,,so never give up let the hen do that Thank You G_B....I will wait and see....
