These are my 2 new birds in quarantine, can someone help with mutations please?

All of Kaz's answers are correct. Number 3 is VERY important, especially if you do not know how to look after baby birds that have been rejected by their parents, this has just happened to me, and I thought I was prepared...but I wasn't... nor did I have the knowledge of how to crop feed a baby that had been rejected and wasn't eating, the result is having babies die and that is heartbreaking.... So no, in my opinion it is not as simple as putting a hen and cock together and ending up with all beautiful chicks. Please read the forum posts and learn heaps before you venture into breeding.

I think so Kaz,... but I thought that you had to pair a DEC with recessive to get DEC, so I wasn't expecting any in this lot......but who knows what the hen is split for? ...the trouble when you don't know the parents of mum and dad I guess...

Well no luck with Vets in the area... :sadsorry: Will try the Avian Vets that are a little bit out of town..... The ABS is the club closest to me so I am going to join that one, hopefully someone there can help me.... I am also going to ring the RSPCA today...see if anyone there can help. Every time I think of Cricket I feel so sad and a bit sick.....I am determined NEVER be in that position ever again...

okay... Azul...same Snowy....same Leo....not a clearbody, looks like a YF grey/green cinamon opaline. As I said I'm still learning mutations, so see what the other guys say.... By the way....beautiful budgies...

Hi Anne Marie and welcome..... I am not to good yet with mutations but the others will corrct me if I'm wrong.... Azul... looks grey to me but it could be the picture or my pc.....so if it's blue I'd say Opaline. Snowy...we need a front shot, but I'd say sky blue recessive.. Leo...looks like a clearbody... Can you get a few more close up shots? Again welcome and have a good lokk around there is heaps you can learn....

I ended up with 3 chicks out of this pairing...... Chick no 1 Chick no 2 Chick no 3 I'm thinking that chick no 1 is the only one with any dark pigment on the skin ( soory bad picture, but I mean up near her eyes...you can just notice it)....so that one may be pied???, the other two at this stage seem to be all one colour? Any thoughts from the guru's?? !!
