  1. since both parent birds are blue there should be no green series birds (lutes or green) and you commented about no fosters in this nest before.
  2. Normal Mauve X Cobalt Spangle Opaline Cobalt Normals Mauve Normals Cobalt Spangles Mauve Spangles (that would look great) All males will be split opaline. Of cause surprises with recessive and sex-linked genes are possible. Cobalt Dominant Pied X Cobalt Spangle Opaline Cobalt Normals Cobalt Spangles Cobalt Dominant pied Skyblue Normals Skyblue Spangles Skyblue Dominant Pied All males will be split opaline. Of cause surprises with recessive and sex-linked genes are possible. This doesn't mean he is a clearflight pied as well, it's simply how the pied gene acted on his wings. He is an australian dominant pied or also called banded dominant pied. ALso you should enter that picture in Budgie of the Month
  3. I'm still seeing paler feathers on the head than the ones in the mask area on the DF. and the Red eye bubs looks to have paler wings than it's sibling..... and now you'll tell me that's from the flash :(Laughing out loud):
  4. Who wouldn't she is a great looking bird. Both of you have great buys there. Aly I hope the BES line works for you very soon. What did you want the lutes for?
  5. Lady - they don't look any darker than normal and don't have the wash of colour from opaline which is a fault as well so I would think he is a good match if wanting to improve the flecking on the head in the chicks.
  6. Great point with the Ceres they can change colour at any time and as like your hens before the first moult. It's not just hens that do that both genders will. I remember Daz posting about his first bubs one boy he kept inside and the brother out with the flock (who was the younger of the two) and the one in the flock gained the adult cere colour before the one inside.
  7. Wow has it been that long already! I was going to say the same think norm. Hers and the national winner this year are the best I've seen. Odd that Genie has spangle wing markings but full throat spots. She is still stunning and from the last shots I didn't realise Jaws was so pretty too.
  8. This is normal for your bird. He is a Yellowface type 2 these bird get a bleed though of yellow in to the body area with each molt. Some get so much that they start to look like a normal green.
  9. :(Laughing out loud): these polls seem to have to pick on someone.
  10. I would look to this pair as the first choice of parents even more so if they have produced a YF before. Getting the YF gene and a normal blue gene makes the bub a yf since this is dominant to the normal blue gene. Not possible from these two since both have white faces they can't be split for YF. With not knowing the split it's possible that they could produce a YF.
  11. great pictures yet again. Are you still sure with lutino and not YF ino?
  12. :(Laughing out loud): I don't know but I do know that even though most times Budgies are quite willing to pair off with the ones we pick for them there are the few times when the hen just doesn't want anything to do with them. Sorry to hear about the poor hatching survival rate. I'm not sure what could be the issue, apear from what you wondered with the lack of food. Is it a maiden hen? I hope the others are okay and hatch soon.
  13. Welcome Rissa, I can't wait to see pictures. DO you know abot mutations and such? If not post in that area and we can help let you know their types.
  14. Since you know the history of this family I would then think you are right. No matter that the bird NOW looks like a YF as a bub should have had blue on the chest as well not green.
  15. Sailorwolf I'm glad to hear that Saffy is doing well with her egg laying. (sorry but I missed who the sire is) All other points aside this was your choice to make and I'm glad that you are happy with the one you made. Good luck with the future hatchings.
  16. Then I would say have a closer look at your 'green' birds. Sometimes a yellowface/goldenface can look very green all over. Try to look under the wings for blue feathers (as this is a sign of yellowfaces)
  17. what a little cutie. Glad he seems to have settled in better now. Sound his behaviour before was simply nerves about the move and such rather than too young. Kaz - I would say male the cere looks very pink to me. It's great that he is happy with your hands if he is happy enough to do that than I would say start hand training now to get him to step up.
  18. Yes a double factor yellow face type 1 bird appears as a normal whiteface bird. A type 2 bird still has a yellowface.
  19. Yes it doesn't look too red, it might have been just from hatching or even just the flash picking up more red in the skin. Congratulation's again Told you that you would have a bub soon.
  20. Yes you must show us the little one that made you fall in love with him
  21. Bub 3 is here. It hatched from egg number 6 as I felt for a while 5 was DIS I checked it yesterday and as I thought it stopped growing at an early stage. I didn't expect another hatching until later this week. Also I have re-set up Pie and Thistle to see how they go, he hardly left her side during the week and she has already been back in the box. I realised the other day that Pie is the Great-grandfather to these new bubs :(Laughing out loud):
  22. Great advise given here as to the Male or Female question look for a very pink and smooth cere for a baby boy, any blue white or rings around the nostrils can mean a hen.
  23. Pictures, Pictures, Pictures
  24. Me too Norm. Pie what makes you say he is a green bird?
  25. I think it's a great idea. Even if you still need to use the skirt it doesn't look bad as a chewed skirt
