  1. Hey How did I miss this before I'm so glad you found some Saddle backs Norm. I hope you can give us some shots later that actually show the reason to their names as the ones I found on line where always showing their fronts :ausb:

    CONGRATULATIONS Zebra !!!!!!!!!!
  3. ahh okay then. If you get any blue or grey babies you can mark down that he is split for blue then.
  4. nice birds Karen. Do you know if the green is split blue? if not then green and grey-green normals
  5. Tail Feather colouring of a danish (recessive) pied
  6. Welcome Nic. Good luck with setting up the aviary.
  7. Glad to hear he has another one to warm his heart and a great job to Katie for taking in an older bird.
  8. I can't tell with the lines around the eye if they are a grey colour or black, Could you let us know Misty? I would guess violet yellowface recessive pied, we would have to wait for iris rings or change of cere colour to be sure tho. I don't see ANY markings on the wings to tell spangle and the tail will be all white due to the pied gene. The second: dutch dominant pied cinnamon, either a dark green or olive.
  9. I'm not worried about what 'type' to show although like you I love spangles. Opalines and Dominant pieds are the other ones I like. and Yes I"m planning on coming to watch.
  10. The oldest Chick is an Opaline.
  11. Weekend YAY! Cage 1 Kazza (M.Spangle) x Reepi (YF Opaline) The oldest bub is theirs the youngest a foster from cage 2 Cage 2 Kree (grey-green spangle) x Berry (cobalt normal, or visual violet) Oldest: spangle Middle: Spangle Youngest: Normal Cage 3 and 4 No eggs as yet.
  12. Great news
  13. The cere looks okay. If it was a bite mark from the squabble it's sounds like it is healing okay with the scab. Watching him closely to see if it bothering him at ll.
  14. good luck !
  15. good to see Lady
  16. No pictures sorry you will have to wait for the weekend. Berry's egg which was fostered to Reepicheep hatched today giving her two babies. The other eggs are over due and duds so it seems this is the end Until new eggs appear with the other two pairs. This means the oldest if from her and Kazza the youngest from her sister Berry and Kree. Being dead tired Monday night meant the youngest in Cage 2 didn't get a leg ring (not that they are the correct show ones so it doesn't matter) since he was too big. Yellow wing markings are showing on the other two.
  17. It would be the reasonable quality that would be hard to find. I see a lot of YF recessive pieds in the pet shops.
  18. That's the key to telling grey from mauve. Grey's will have grey/silver cheek patches Mauves have blue ones. This bub (and the other one) got a dark factor gene from both of the parents. I would guess at a hen as well.
  19. they look great and a agree with Sammie "cute lil whiteys" Yup mom tend to feed for the first couple of weeks then both will do the work and Dad will be the one the feed the most at the end when teaching them to break seeds themselves. Of cause that doesn't mean they are all like that some dad will do nothing to help.
  20. Nice compliment there Paul.
  21. *Nerwen* replied to *Kate*'s topic in Breeding Journals
Some nice birds there Kate Pair 1 Visual Violet normal Cock (stating violet since you have spoken of a more violet colour which is hard to get in pictures) x Yellowface type 1 normal hen ( I can't seen any bleed of yellow in the body area making a green colour) 25% Yellowface normals 25% Yellowface violet normals 25% Blue normals 25% Violet normals Pair 2 Green Dominant Pied cock x Lacewing Pair 3 Green Pied Cock x Green Opaline Dominant pied hen I can't really tell with the male a back shot would help. I can see the pink cere which is a sign of a recessive pied, however if the male as in iris ring then he would be a dominant pied. Pair 4 Skyblue normal cock x dominant pied hen (skyblue or cobalt)
  22. and it also helps with grip and balance with the babies having a non slip floor int he box.
