  1. Thanks Tanya. I took these shots last weekend but then didn't get time to post them up. Cage 1 This grey-green has the correct show ring :fear Cage 2 Nursery cage Both hens are sitting on eggs again Cage 1 has 6 and when I checked the other night 3 where fertile cage 2 had 5 (one was eaten) and 4 are fertile.
  2. they are young with those ceres, 3 months and under. the opaline might be a hen.
  3. I agree the pied baby looks to be male from that shot. Are you seeing a smooth pink even toned cere in real life?I agree the pied baby looks to be male from that shot. Are you seeing a smooth pink even toned cere in real life?
  4. I see a grey-green normal hen with the male he could be fallow but I see grey markings not brown.
  5. Two wonderful looking birds there SJW and welcome to the site. at first budgie genetics can be hard to understand, but easy enough to learn :fear Bah - is a yellowface opaline Dominant pied male. As to the colour of his blue it's interesting as on his shoulders is the a mauve tone yet on his front is cobalt. He could be a violet as his cheek patches are a dark blue Uh Oh - I would state is a green recessive pied unlike Bah the yellow is a even tone on the whole bird not stronger in the mask area.
  6. Well fingers crossed that one is a double factor!
  7. okay then I just wasn't sure if you had forgotten but I can understand for not wanting to confuse.
  8. Kaz if there is yellow showing then they will be yellowfaces, you will just have to wait some more to know if they are grey or blues.
  9. looking great, i would start to add some shavings in the nest box to help keep it and the chicks feet clean.

I agree YF 2 recessive mauve (since you made comments on looking grey as well) and very cute, glad she found a good spot for food
  11. P.s Feathers - oh-Oh is a spangle
  12. Just an update the oldest in cage 1 and the two oldest in cage 2 are starting to spend the nights out of the boxes. All the babies spend most of the day outside as well. Both hens have 2 eggs. Berry had three but again someone had started to eat it, her two are fertile, Reepi's is too soon to tell. I have one saved egg from Thistle that she never sat on before I broke them up again so I'm planning to place it under Berry on the weekend and see what happens.
  13. Thanks for that a grey tail is yet another sign of greywing.
  14. sorry to hear that Karen It seems you have an bit of a mix with the colours from this pair!
  15. so cute it's great to be able to see them develop too so you can notice (and start to learn) the small difference from other colours.
  16. I agree too with greywing. What colour is the tail? it's hard to tell in the first shot. It is a bit harder to tell without the flights but I can see faint marks on the bottom row of feathers that would not be showing on a spangle.
  17. few questions - are you colony breeding? and do you know the history of the parents? The hen in pair one looks to be olive but it's possible she is a yellowface if she is then they could have produced young like you have. There is also if you are colony breeding that there was some mixed breeding happening at the time of egg laying. oh and welcome to the site
  18. well done on the placings Kaz :yellowhead: and give my Steele an extra little something for a job well done
  19. yeah I know and I thought of this outcome when I wasn't able to get the ring on But I have some more pictures now. and I think I saw what Daz and Kaz saw before in the grey-green spangle. Cage 1 Oldest Skyblue M.Spangle cock- Youngest Grey-green normal cock- Cage 2 Oldest Green spangle hen (dad behind) - Second Grey-green spangle cock - Third grey-green normal hen -
  20. Double factor dominant pied is quite likely and will be answered shortly if all the babies turn out to be pied. As to colours - greens and grey-greens split blue (grays and blue possible only if she is split blue)
  21. Put in your best entry for Budgie of the Month. Every one has until the 31th of October to enter a picture. Three judges have been picked for this months judging, all other members/site promoters/G.Mods are welcome to enter. One picture per member per month. Please remember to keep to the board rules of 450 maximum. If this is not met then you picture will not be accepted. Any post you make to this thread will not show up so please do not repost. Good luck to all that enter.
  22. Cheers Daz I'm watching closely as this one might just end up being my first entered show budgie. But I feel from what I see of them all that the grey-green normal (in cage 2) has the fluffest head and that one doesn't have a ring at all
  23. recessives have plum eyes and the flash tends to make it stronger in photos.
  24. Yellowface Recessive pied. Looks like a type two with the show of yellow in the wings and body but that will become clear with the moult.
  25. :bluebudgie: Sorry Daz I'm going to have to wait for another round of these two to get a spangle with the correct rings. But all the chicks are about the same size. This one has the correct ring - pr 1502
