  1. WOW I've been very very slack (Laughing out loud). But I have some shots for you all. A lot of them are fuzzy as the light was too much with the flash so I took them without it. The first clutch Oldest in cage 1 - sky blue normal Second in cage 1 - sky blue normal Third in cage 1 - M spangle sky blue Forth is a copy of three, but the shots of him didn't turn out. Youngest in cage 2 - green spangle Oldest in cage 2 - green green spangle
  2. things are always hoping at your place thanks for the update
  3. Hi Gumleaf, this is a normal step in the behaviour of a new bird which we here like to call the "escape at all cost" time. The budgie will dig in the seed bowls, twisted themselves around, run back and forth on the floor of the cage and many other funny looking things. Staying calm around the cage and talking to him can help settle the bird down and move on from this.
  4. Put in your best entry for Budgie of the Month. Every one has until the 31st December to enter a picture. Three judges have been picked for this months judging, all other members/site promoters/G.Mods are welcome to enter. One picture per member per month. Please remember to keep to the board rules of 450 maximum. If this is not met then you picture will not be accepted. Any post you make to this thread will not show up so please do not repost. Good luck to all that enter.

Males will all be split opalines.
  6. Sorry Daz, that shot is of the last clutch last year the rings are blue, and are split ones.
  7. Sometimes the begging for food can confusing the bird as it's close to the mating behaviour of the hen as well. Make a small hiding place for the chick like a cardboard box or ice cream container to get away from behaviour like that. Or if the bub is old enough and trying to eat some seed move in with the hens.
  8. Opaline at the top of the picture and normal at the bottom. But pieds can look like Opalines when young
  9. I know what your trying to say sandy, these two have a strong yellow to than the first/other ones. It doesn't change what they are - yellowface blues. The green tint in the wings is normal as well for some birds, it's called opalescence.
  10. looks good Keep an eye on the parents, sound like the boy wants to start again and the hen isn't ready.
  11. the first is a male greywing, the other is a hen i think and pied spangle.

  17. Yes that Why I stated No as I knew it wasn't allowed in show and this was a quiz on show birds. I'm waiting for the answer about the faults. I have no clue as to what these could be and would be good to know.
  18. Lacewing - cinnamon Ino would explain it.

  20. *Nerwen* replied to standbyme's topic in Budgie Talk
    Yes you can
  21. The first is hard, as the young one (as it seems in the picture) you can tell about an iris rings. The patch around the next COULD mean a pied or simply some suffusion showing. This could mean the bird is a double factor spangle which will show if an iris ring appears. Or she could be a DEC (dark eye clear) which is a mix of recessive pied and dominant pied. red eyes means Ino, and the greenish blue you are seeing is simply from the flash. She looks like an older hen.
  22. I was thinking the Saturday before Xmas then the members can vote for their favorite before Christmas day.
  23. Here is December's 2007's Budgie Of The Month! Sent in by: CaspersRose Description: This is Casper. The photo was taken last Christmas, but I thought that seeing as the season has come (well, as far as Westfield is concerned anyway - I reckon there should be a moratorium on all things Christmas until at least December 1st!) this photo would be quite fitting! Unfortunately Casper is no longer with us (he died a few weeks ago ) , but his photo has made its way onto our Christmas decoration collection to be brought out every year! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  24. Bea has started us off bringing the Christmas cheer to the site with her wonderful new sig. So lets all join in and make this place festive. The rules are simple: 1. make it Christmas themed. 2. Keep it in limits of the board rules. 3. Have fun!
