Puffy Cheeks
I haven't heard of bleeding with scaley face. I would make a vet appointment to get her checked out, unless you have gotten this treatment from an avain vet already.

Another Newbie!
nice to meet you I like the name fruitloop I've one called Tootie Fruity. Anyway it's a bit late now but new birds should be quantined for 30 days to make sure they are not carrying a sickness. Movement to a new home can weaken them and a illness they are holding at bay can get a foothold into them. Keep an eye on all of them now. If you have some probotics or can get some give that in the water to help with stress. Any way the warning out of the way I hope to see you around here often, and I'll be the first to mention that we LOVE pictures here.

Welcome Home My New Babies :)
Number two and 4 should be DF spangles becuase the cere's have changed to blue rather than staying the pink like number 5 and 7. They all look great, now why can't I find a place where I can buy up big

Tweety- Bird
I thought of Boa but Bungee is a match too I'm with Rainbow in what she is but I see Cinnamon. What babies you will get are the ones I listed for you in the PM. Blue spangles, Blue normals, YF spangles, YF normals. All boys split for opaline and cinnamon.

Tweety- Bird
aww she looks like little Bao Not seeing a lot of blue, but the green doesn't match what I would think of for a baby green.

Incubator / Brooder ?
I'm not sure but I think they are two different things. Checking out a pet store or a produce store might have some for sale. If not try your local budgie society, they will sometime have a few of these things for sale at meetings.

One New Bird
sorry Like I said the pictures are not the best, the light gave a red wash to a lot of the pictures. He is a grey-green spangle. I got to see his father and sister too ( think they where the ones it might have been brother) who are both breeding at the moment. The sister is a yellow DF spangle Lovey you are right grey-greens have a grayish cheek patch rather than a strong blue (deep blue/violet) cheek patch of a Olive. Name I like so far: Twister, Digit, Demetri and Banjo. Wondered about R2D2 ( or just R2) forgot to ask for his exact age but he is over a year. His ring is red like Pie's so they might be the same age. edit- i just saw his ring better and found out it's not red but purple. I can't find that colour on the list of years I'm not going to handle him now but later I'll try to read the number. nd just after typing that I remember the guy wrote out his ring info for me and the parents. His ring is CB 450 -5. I'm sure daz can read that for me :hap: but I think it means he was born last year.

Dutch / Recessive / Dominant?
So if I took the scenario that mum is recessive pied, rr; and dad is D something..... (DD or Dr or Dn) It couldn't be possible that dad is DD, since all would be dominant pieds That's correct It couldn't be possible that dad is Dr, since all would be either dominant or recessive pieds, and there's been a normal But it also couldn't be that dad is Dn, since then it wouldn't be possible to get recessive pieds, they'd all be Dr or rn? Normal is what will happen to all birds if they don't get any other gene to change that. He has to have the Dominant gene because of the spot and babies like look like him, he has to have rec. becuase of the babies that look rec. to me. The 'normal ones' missed out on the Dominant gene and two rec. gene but will be carrying one. So he should be Dr.

One New Bird
Well I found an nice male bird that I felt I couldn't leave behind, even though I wasn't wanting to buy a bird here or a bird there but rather get all the ones I want from one place but after almost a month of hunting and getting no luck that way I gave up on the idea. And i might be lucky in a few weeks of this fellow having a few more for sale. I got but on to this breeder, three steps down. A person Knew a bloke that was breeding and after call him he told me about this guy and a quick visit that ended up over an hour I felt he was one that really cared for his birds, his cages where spotless, apart from the spilt seed which would only have been from that day since it wasn't much. And all the birds looked nice and not squashed in. I will not mention names and such since it's his right to have that spread around but thoses near me and PM for more info if needed. I'm sure if he had one hen free I would have brought more there was two I was looking at and almost gave in to take both but I kept getting drawn to the one I took and finally decided to only take him. I will of cuase have better pictures later, it was late when I got back and only wanted to be sure he was settled for the night. genetic followers try out his mutation and colour :budgiedance: Also no name has come to me yet so come forth with ideas.

Dutch / Recessive / Dominant?
Pied can either be dominant, which is DD or Dr or Dn, or Recessive, which must be rr. Yes this is right Can a bird with dominant pied genes (DD or Dr or Dn) actually show as normal? no the dominant pied gene overrules the normal gene (Dn) mean one pied gene one normal gene. They've definately had a normal baby, so does that one need to be nn or nr genetically? yes if mum is recessive. Which i think is still up in the air. The latest two babies appear recessive pied, so they are rr genetically. yes all recessive gene need to have two, one from each parent to show. There's some headspot pieds too, so they will be Dn, Dr or DD that can depend and there isn't a way to tell between them The father has to have a D but the other gene could be n or r or even D (?) Correct, but the sign on normal babies means be can't be DD. If the mother is dutch pied, then it could be Du/n Du/r Du/Du or Du/D OR If she's recessive pied then she's rr Correct I'm just wondering if I'm on the right track or completely lost? Your doing wonderfully. I can't see a sign of a ring in either of the pictures of mum. Becuase of the recessive pied babies from this pair have appeared I would lean to thinking she is recessive. And yes I'm sure I was the one leading the way for dutch last time :(Laughing out loud): But one needs to look at the whole picture.
