Budgie Breeding ?
Aww there are some like that out there :sigh: I hope there is another group around you to join if you are wanting to move into the show side of things. Also keep in mind that is only one person in the group, although I do know how you feel, I met one important member of my local club and he really put me off from joining that group, since then I've met a normal member and he was really friendly and willing to help.

What To Do
Nice tip on the mint I might get some now so they are in place before I have a problem. I havn't had an egg eater but from what I know yes they can eat enough of it so you can see anything left. As to the ground I have gravel in my and I'm starting to hate it with the cleaning, which is scraping off the top layer and adding more every second time or so. I'm planning on getting pavers to give me a floor I can scrub clean.

Since the guy was trying to get me to sign up with them Not that I'm saying I won't but I'm still not sure if I want to. :(Laughing out loud): It's funny I used your hen to show my friend what he looked like at tafe since their system blocks photobucket.

Fat Budgies
corn on the cob, frozen corn or the small sicks of corn are all fine to give. Yes a kitchen scale works, use a box make the wight to zero with the box on the scales then add the bird and take the weight. I was told by my vet to use finch (or canary) food for overweight budgies, becuase it doesn't have the 'marsbar' type seeds in it. Now all my birds are on that with out any worry.
