My Budgie Is Sick!
yellowish dropping is not normal, and I'm glad you have a vet appointment already before asking here. Keep your bird warm, the best way to do that is using a bed lamp or desk lamp as close to the cage as possible. If you can do that use a heavy sheet or light blanket and cover the cage. Keep noise level around him down until the vet trip. Carrot is good for them so it would not be the cuase of this. I wish you luck and I hope to find out what the vet said.

Strange Digging Behavior
It also think it's related to a bird not use to being in a cage or alone. My Thistle did this the whole time she was alone for a month for her quintine time. Since getting out in the avairy she hasn't dug at any food. I know she was use to being with other birds from when I got her and she is an older bird. Is the feed dish clear? Maybe changing to another type could stop this too. they are seed dishes sometime call "D" cups becuase this is what they ook like that hang on the side of the cage.

S/he is recessive pied as well, which was what was bugging me, to get TWO recessive gene showing on the same baby ?? I guess it can happen but what a fluke. Fallow is the only think I know of that can fit all the factors. That is one of the sites I checked out the other day. Better pictures of what they are saying is what would help heaps. Plus I think one of the pictures they say is a hen but looks male to me. Look at little Cricket I can't wait to see her puppies! Love the second bub from Spot and Precious. S/he is going to be a looker. Is it grey or mauve colouring showing up? YAY for Goliath and Jade Fingers crossed all the bubs are okay. Love the two blue babies of Ciaras too. They look really sweet.

Comet - There Must Have Been Some Clerical Error
What about if he was in the cage near her for a while, to help bring her out of her shell? Or do you think after meeting another it would harm her progress MORE to then be moved away? I read somewhere else that you have a house at last That's good news.

: : I'm trying (Laughing out loud). Found the answer that was bugging me which was do fallow babies start with red eyes? The answer is yes. So fallow is possible.

wow all these pictures My head is swimming. Stunning babies of Spot and Precious They both look blue too YAY. As to this one above, well she (?) looks like a recessive pied, but the eyes are too bight for that to be all. Fallow is a red eye with brown markings. It's recessive so it's possible.

Getting Scared At Night
If in a flock one bird has a night fright the other will take to the air as well. Not helpful in a cage where they can harm themselves. I have a solar garden light in the floor of my avairy which lights up the back wall and the ground nicly for them to see but still dark near the top of the cage where they sleep so they are not kept awake. Since putting it in I have not been awoken in the night by them flying like mad. I think the two weeks of not having it in the avairy I was woken up about 5-6 times.

Comet - There Must Have Been Some Clerical Error
I'm sorry to hear she is still at it Phoebe But I agree I don't think he is 12. He was most likely around the age of one or two. I look at the birds on my rspca page and most of them are listed around the 10 year mark. I think it's something to do with trying to give them homes as pets rather than breeders.

My 3 Clones
aww and they all look like girls so they are going to stay hard to work out :(Laughing out loud): Stunning colours.

Thank You
love the name Puff  You can keep her as a single bird and the breeding pair in another room maybe? If you want to keep her as simply a family pet. Daz a member here has three very tame inside birds and an avairy outside. Just becuase you have more than one they don't have be a flock.

Ask away  it's what we are hear for. Are you planning on breeding your pet one you have now or are you on the hunt for a pair?
