  1. acutally something that bugged me I thought the red eye from a cinnamon gene weaked before the chick was even out of the box?? But she said to wait for the eye to fade stil.
  2. when the really get into mating they tap beack so he just might be getting that bit down pat :(Laughing out loud): It sounds more promising each post Kirby.
  3. I'm glad your excited Kirby but please remember about double posting is to be used for important info. I like Emma but I was going to suggest something like Peppermint I'm glad Chico is getting better this time Can I ask how did you seperate the cage?
  4. wow :(Laughing out loud): I wonder why she can up with the texas clearbody? rather than a recessive pied which the spotty markings on the wings would seem to lead too.
  5. thank you Karen It was working for me before as well. Strange.
  6. Aww poor Mattie :ausb: I'm glad you where willing to take him on anyway. At this age the leg will not improve sometimes when the baby is still in the nest a leg problem can be fixed before the bones set. But all you talked about will help in him mantaining the use he has now. Different shapes and thickness of branches and the use of rope for different feel and balacnew ill halp all budgies excerise their feet. There are toys out there on the market that look like little dumbbells I haven't seen any used, budgies wil kick about the little balls with the bells in them. Did these two come from the same place? If not a quantine period is needed of at least a month. SO you can monitor behaviour for any signs of sickness. The stress of a new place and weaken them enough for a disease they where fighting off to get the upperhand. I would also think of doing this anyway to get the bond strong with the human side of the family. I must say you seem to be doing a wonderful job on the taming side of things :ausb:
  7. Karen made it so the link works ( well she had the picture but it's too large so I changed it to a link) Unless your male is split for blue and or recessive pied you will get all green ones like him. If he is carrying the blue gene you can get 50% blue and 50% green normals. If he is carrying a recessive pied gene you can get 50% normals 50% pied.

  9. Of cuase I remember melon :ausb: How cool to get more like her from a different pair :(Laughing out loud): If they are like Melon then they are girls and your Kiwi is split for opaline.
  10. :(Laughing out loud)::(Laughing out loud): Phoebe I'm sure he thinks he is. birdluv thanks at lest it is different.

Great to see your at a start. The bit about waiting for a bird to pick you isnt silly I do the same thing. Martin sounds like a treat.

ahh that makes it harder. Not sure what to do, if it where my birds I would think about giving them a break for a few months and then try again.
  16. Thanks guys He is a very quite boy and 'guards' his food :(Laughing out loud): as if i"m going to take it away. I have once again found a bird not a magor fan of millet he hasn't touched the spray I gave him from the start, but I'm sure that will change as Thistle now digs in as much as the rest when they get some. He is starting to call out to the others a bit more today so I think he is settling down.

Yes she is, the adult feathers are more riich in colour to the baby ones and yes pin feathers are what they are called. At age 7 months is average for them to have a moult. She is a cutie, and in the picture looks like she knows it :(Laughing out loud):
  18. interesting I've heard of the mottle gene that adds black over the years but not a reverse. But it's nothing ot worry about it wouldn't affect her health
  19. awww that nest full of fledged babies sounds so cute You have to get a shot of it if you can

'Beautiful girl' sounds just as nice It's not going to mean anything to Pippin. I called my hen a boy for ages when I first got her since that was what I as told too. (Laughing out loud)

How old are they? What are you feeding them? What do their ceres look like? Can we get pictures? How long have you had them? What is the set up they are in? How long have you been waiting for them to breed? I'm sure there are other question as well but we will need more information to help with an answer to the problem.

Ahh clipped wings means he isn't getting a lot of wing excerise even out of the cage so flapping them while still gripping the cage is all he can really do right now. The time for feathers to re grown depends on what point of the moult cycle he was at. The moult on average twice a year some do so more others less.
  25. I think that sounds normal, if it's only one or two at those times and not more I wouldn't worry. Birds on a mostly seed diet will sneeze, and I've noticed mine in the past to sneeze at those times. The only way we see discharge is the wet feathers above the cere so if that is clean I wouldn't worry. If they get stronger or more often a vet trip work be a good idea.
