Becareful Candling The Eggs
I candle my egs at a week and just before hatching. The last is a certain check to see if the eggs are fertile and alright. On saturday I candling the latest clutch that was due to hatch on tuesday. I found that the eggs looked like this Forth Egg Picture down. Alan was there when we checked them and confirmed my thoughts that they were dead in shell. I decided to be safe and leave them till the end of the week rather than throwing them straight out. They were due to hatch on Tuesday gone. I wasn't surprised when they didn't hatch on Tuesday or Wednesday. I checked them Wednesday night (Late afternoon after dark) to find nothing. I plan to throw them out on Saturday, which is my day of cleaning. Late Wednesday night a friend came over and wanted to see the aviary. I went to show him what Budgerigar eggs looked like and ended up showing him a newly hatched chick. 1 hour old. Thursday morning two more eggs hatched and currently (Today is Friday here) I have three health chicks and expect the next to hatch tomorrow(Saturday) and the last one on Monday. I have candled a numbr of clutches and this is the first ones that looked like this. I am glad I didn't throw them out. Here is Dad (Bob) and Mum (Lisa) Karen's birds. Also one of the eggs were fostered from Greeny wh is resting after 2 clutches and Huey This is their Last Clutch So I suppose the lesson here is don't prematurly throw out eggs that you are not 100% sure of. Leave them 5 to 7 days after the due hatching date to see what happens. Baby Photos to come.

- Baby Colors/mutations
ummm I think Nerwen is right. I see a dark green recessive Pied and a Light green Dominant Pied. With Recessive pieds. they will be either bkue birds (White base) or green birds (yellow base) so you call them the off colour. Your recessive pied is green (yeloow base) with the off colour being a dark green. As a dak green bird she carries a sigle factor dark factor. The babies will either be light green or dark green (Unless split to Blue) All will be split to recessive pied and 25% will be Dominent Pied.- Yellowfaces And Golden Faces
Golden Face is associated with Parblue birds where the yellow bleeds into the blue body giving it a green colour. The goldenface is more "Buttercup" than the yellow face.- Elsie

I can see the remaining effects of scaly face. the beak is beginning to over grow. If you have some calcium perches, they will help to grind his beak back.- 2 New Girls
