Aviaries
Just a point. One of the top Breeders in Queensland used to have sand on the floor of his aviaries. (600 birds) and had a problem with deaths. It turned out to be the foaling of the sand. He now has a concreat floor that is hosed out every week. As Lin said you would need to replace the sand often to make sure that it doesn't become contaminated. I have a concreat floor that is cleaned and vacumed every week.

Paired 2 Of My Birds Off
Don't read non spangle to be split. You can't get a budgie that is split to spangle. It either is or isn't.

I Got Eggs!
As budgie said the eggs should hatch in about 18 days. The hen lays an egg every other day so the chicks should hatch two days apart. They will stay in the nest box until they are about 28 to 34 days old. This is when they will start to leave the nest. They really won't be fully fledged until around 42 days old. The parents or more liking the father will feed them after they leave the nest.

Vitamin D
Sprouted seed are good for protien. I use grated carrot, corn kernels, celery, mung bean sprouts and snow pea sprouts. The birds love it.

Cat Attack
If you are not going to see a vet, i'd give him a warm bath with a bit of anticeptic. Make sure his cage is mostly covered and givehim some warmth. He is probibly in shock. If he has lasted this long, he might make it. I'd get him some Probitics or Vetafarm "Sparks" This will help him.

New Budgies

New Budgies
Bubbles the best way to remember that one is that Cinnamon is a colour. Spangle and Opaline is a type of markings. So you are right. An Opaline Spanle Lutino is Yellow. You will only know when you breed it.

New Nest Box
I'd love to try one Karren but.... I only have a max distance of 210mm not 300mm. I couldn't even scale it down. I have actually moved the nest box to the outside of the Cage. I have only 210mm between the edge of the Breedig Cage and the Entrance. Anything larger will block the access into the cage. But if anyone (nerwen) wants to try this type of nest box. I'll be happy to make it. :fear

New Nest Box
Bob and Liza is on their 2nd clutch. They waiting till the chicks were gone before starting their next clutch. Same with another pair I have down.. It's seems that some birds are different. That is why I have 4 different types of nest boxes and I am keeping a check to see which hen likes which Box :fear
