If you don't have an incubator or another pair with eggs, i would leave it with the hen until she throws it out or when it is 30 days old. You may hve a dead in shell chick. Sorry.

ummm mine go a darker colour 5 days before hatching. Have you checked if they are fertile. (candle the eggs)

It Makes Me Shiver
If the hen stops sitting on the eggs early in the time they just stop developing. They will be okay but the hatching will be delayed. Congratulations on the two chicks. I hope all goes well.

Hen Doesnt Like Breeding Cabinet

Finally! Theres Action . . .
I agree with nerwen. Let her continue. don't worry if the egg is in the corner, she will move it. and don't worry if she doesn't sit on it She should after the second or third egg. If this is her first clutch, don't be too disapointed if the majority of eggs are not fertile. This is normal. Now is the time to get ready for the hatching. Make sure you have some hand rearing mix. Start counting the day from today but make the first one 20 days not 18. every other you can count 18 from there lay date. I hope all goes well.

First Timers
Hi and Welcome to the forum. :budgiedance: Your first egg should have hatched on the 24th August the second on or about that day. Third on the 26th, forth on the 28th, fifth on the 30th, sixth on the 1st......... The hen should start to throw the eggs out if they are no good. If she dosn't. wait for another week and throw them out.

Dominant,recessive Dutch Pied?
You have a sky blue dominant pied. Male and very beautiful too. A recessive pied has the markings in reverse. More white than blue and no markings on the head. The Head spot at the back also gives it away.

Yf Grey + Dark Factor?
Dark Factors, I know will act on the green to give Dark Green and Olive. and on Blue to give cobalt and mouve. Not sure if the dark factor will work that way on grey. A grey bird is a blue bird with the grey gene. A grey green bird is a green bird with the grey gene. Not sure about Slate (sex linked gene) or the new one. Arco..... I'll have to look this one up. :wine

Bad Start
Hi Kelly, Just a couple of things. You may need to Clip around the vent on both birds. Modern day budgerigars have a denser fether than the wild budgie. This causes problems with mating. Some people pluck the vent feathers but it is better to clip them. With the DIS (Dead in Shell) it proves that both hen and cock are fertile. I would be thinking or reseting them after the ones you just set up. The head spot does mean a dominant pied. A split gene can not be seen. You can only guess if it is there and it will only show in the next generations.

How Do I Start Ringing?

Budgie Helpp Urgent!
She will be fine. Just check on her over the next few hours to make sure the bleeding doesn't start again. Cornflour is also good to stop small injuries.
