Type 1 Or 2?
You can get a type II staight out of the nest. Chime was a type II golden face or what is called a parblue. You can see the bleed through her body colour and the buttercup yellow face. Though this picture was taken after her moult, she didn't change much. Here she is in the breeding cage and nest Her mother was a parblue Goldenface Spangle. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/darrylw/budgies028.jpg

My Outside Aviary And It's Occupants.
You have as Lovey said two recessive pieds. One that you call huey is a cobalt recessive and the other could be a green or dark green. Huey is a blue base and the other a green base. The green base is a male but I also can't see the sex of the rear one. It looks female but that could be the Flash of the camera

Breeding Time
Thats great Nerwen. Breeding Pair 8 has now it's 3rd baby. They seem to be one day out of sequence. Thats fine. Jazz laid another egg today so we are back up to 8 eggs.

Type 1 Or 2?
He is a type 1 Skyblue. A type II has a more buttercup colour and the yellow bleeds into the body colouring.

Is My Budgie Sick?
Does his beak look like these pictures If so he has scaly face. Depending how bad you can get Scatt at the pet store. If it isn't as bad as the pictures just wipe with baby oil on his beak, cere and legs. Paying attention not to get it in his cere.(nostrils) If it is worst it might pay to take him to an avarian vet.

What Kind Of Babies?
Good article Lovey. To add, you can use the violet factor to enhanse the ino gene. It will give lutinos a more buttercup colour.

Bringing Budgies Outside...
I would say that he would have no problems outside. How small would the cage be and does he get any flighting time inside?

What Kind Of Babies?
Let look at the genes. Male Violet (dominant) Opaline (sex link gene) Female Dominant Pied. (dominant) Dominant colour is green. Males will be all Split to Opaline Females will all be Opaline. All the chicks should be violets, dominant pieds and violet dominant pieds. If the chicks are not violet they should be green So the females will be: Green Opaline Opaline, Dominant Pied Opaline, Violet Opaline, Violet, Dominant Pied Males will be: Normal Green, Split Opaline Dominant Pied, Split Opaline Violet, Split Opaline Violet, Dominant Pied, Split Opaline But what is the Male and Female split to ??????

...just A Couple Of Pics
He does look the part "standing" Daz....but you really must keep up with his training....the first picture you posted....he is definitely Slumping. Posture poor when relaxed and not on the show bench I know but the comment says it all. It was take at dusk and he really wasn't up to it. You can see the slump in Blue Bell and the Grey Opaline too.

Bubbles Ming
Can I throw up the genes. Male Opaline (sex linked) Spangle (dominant) Blue (double factor dark factor if mauve) Split to ???? Female Ino (sex linked) Cinnamon (sex linked) blue (to give albinoism) Split to ???? ( the ino gene will mask all other genes except cinnamon) Males will be split to the sex linked Opaline, ino and Cinnamon. Females will be Opalines and normals Dominant Gene will take 50% so they will be Normals and Spangles Colour should be Sky blue 25% cobalt 50% and Mauve 25% How did I do?

How Much Do Your Budgies Weigh?
Can I refer to the terms English and Americian... English is a term refered to the larger show budgies. Americian is a term in America to discribe the smaller pet budgie. But all budgies are Australian. Like the Americian Cougar or Grizzley Bear. The English Squirril or the African Lion. It can get confusing for some

This Is What I Want To Do....maybe
One thing to remember when Inbreeding / line breeding is that you enhanse the features... Good and Bad. As lovey said, you must keep good records...... and ask plenty of questions.
