  1. I am going to wait to see how many she lays or if another pair starts to breed. I am very tempted to put the eggs with the spangles but will wait.

No they are still lutinos but the yellowing is much brighter.

Congratulations. There is some insecticides that are okay for budgies. A.I.L. from Vetafarm is what I use.
  4. Sounds like it. George my pet male does this alot. He is very tame.
  5. You can get a type II staight out of the nest. Chime was a type II golden face or what is called a parblue. You can see the bleed through her body colour and the buttercup yellow face. Though this picture was taken after her moult, she didn't change much. Here she is in the breeding cage and nest Her mother was a parblue Goldenface Spangle. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/darrylw/budgies028.jpg

Hi Rosie, Welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear about your loss but you now have beautiful birds. The maximum size photos that you can put up are 450 x 450 pixels and as yours are under that size I changed they so we all could see them. I hope you enjoy it hear.
  7. Kirby don't get disappointed if they don't start to hatch on the 20th they could be a day or two late. 18 - 19 days is only a guide remember.
  8. okay my Spangle pair has just laid their first egg. My count Jazz has 8 eggs Pair 8 has 5 eggs and 3 chicks Pair 9 has one egg Pair 3 has 0 eggs Pair 6 has 0 eggs Ash has 0 eggs.
  9. Hi barbara, Your peregrin Falcon is a cinnamonwing ???? cant see the colour well enough for my eyes. Have you quarentine the birds. If you haven't heard of quarentine, click on the links in my signature to is how and why.

Hi hilly1981 and welcome to the forums. I have currently 36 I think but that at the moment changes from day to day. When you get your next bird make sure you quarentine it. Click on the links on my signature to see how and why.
  11. You have as Lovey said two recessive pieds. One that you call huey is a cobalt recessive and the other could be a green or dark green. Huey is a blue base and the other a green base. The green base is a male but I also can't see the sex of the rear one. It looks female but that could be the Flash of the camera
  12. Thats great Nerwen. Breeding Pair 8 has now it's 3rd baby. They seem to be one day out of sequence. Thats fine. Jazz laid another egg today so we are back up to 8 eggs.
  13. He is a type 1 Skyblue. A type II has a more buttercup colour and the yellow bleeds into the body colouring.

Does his beak look like these pictures If so he has scaly face. Depending how bad you can get Scatt at the pet store. If it isn't as bad as the pictures just wipe with baby oil on his beak, cere and legs. Paying attention not to get it in his cere.(nostrils) If it is worst it might pay to take him to an avarian vet.

Good article Lovey. To add, you can use the violet factor to enhanse the ino gene. It will give lutinos a more buttercup colour.
  16. I would say that he would have no problems outside. How small would the cage be and does he get any flighting time inside?
  17. Great video kirby but too dark at the end for me to see the nest. Hope all goes well. Hope the hen doesn't mind all the distractions.
  18. lol he'll like that as Bluebell didn't like his approaches last time I paired them. In fact she took a feather off his head.

Let look at the genes. Male Violet (dominant) Opaline (sex link gene) Female Dominant Pied. (dominant) Dominant colour is green. Males will be all Split to Opaline Females will all be Opaline. All the chicks should be violets, dominant pieds and violet dominant pieds. If the chicks are not violet they should be green So the females will be: Green Opaline Opaline, Dominant Pied Opaline, Violet Opaline, Violet, Dominant Pied Males will be: Normal Green, Split Opaline Dominant Pied, Split Opaline Violet, Split Opaline Violet, Dominant Pied, Split Opaline But what is the Male and Female split to ??????
  20. He does look the part "standing" Daz....but you really must keep up with his training....the first picture you posted....he is definitely Slumping. Posture poor when relaxed and not on the show bench I know but the comment says it all. It was take at dusk and he really wasn't up to it. You can see the slump in Blue Bell and the Grey Opaline too.

Can I throw up the genes. Male Opaline (sex linked) Spangle (dominant) Blue (double factor dark factor if mauve) Split to ???? Female Ino (sex linked) Cinnamon (sex linked) blue (to give albinoism) Split to ???? ( the ino gene will mask all other genes except cinnamon) Males will be split to the sex linked Opaline, ino and Cinnamon. Females will be Opalines and normals Dominant Gene will take 50% so they will be Normals and Spangles Colour should be Sky blue 25% cobalt 50% and Mauve 25% How did I do?
  22. He Likes to stand I got Apollo in an Auction. Church and O'Rielly Bird. Opaline Spangle Skyblue.
  23. Can I refer to the terms English and Americian... English is a term refered to the larger show budgies. Americian is a term in America to discribe the smaller pet budgie. But all budgies are Australian. Like the Americian Cougar or Grizzley Bear. The English Squirril or the African Lion. It can get confusing for some
  24. One thing to remember when Inbreeding / line breeding is that you enhanse the features... Good and Bad. As lovey said, you must keep good records...... and ask plenty of questions.
  25. Grey Opaline Hen...out of condition Blue bell after the carrot attack Apollo..... *can't you see I am tired...* Can't forget the kids in the nursary
