  1. Dave and I will be driving all that way with the team so we will be definately proping up the bar when we get there... .... France and Germany... very nice and warm that time of year. :hap:
  2. Great set up, hope you do well this year... looking forward to a drink at Rocky.
  3. If he was any more Dilute, id say you have a rainbow. a Rainbow is a Clearwing Opaline Yellowface skyblue.
  4. great ideas :celebrate:
  5. The best thing is to let them settle in for 4 weeks. Many pairs don't breed as they have been moved to a new aviary and then pair straight away. I leave mine for 4 weeks before pairing. Speak to the b reader that you are buying them off to see what he has been feeding them. If he is any good, he will have them on a good diet. It is best not to change too much too soon.
  6. Mother can be removed at 4 weeks old as the father should be feeding them by then.
  7. I do the whole cage with Chorahexidine and Ivometine before breeding season and then a 6 week spray of AIL.
  8. Typical ring registrar But how are you going to ensure that all members will get their rings exactly on the 1st September or will you not post them out until that date? Australia Express Post to the Outer Regions e.g. Bundaburg and Roma. Normal post to closer clubs. The rings will go late on Friday 28th so that the Club Ring Stewards have them either Monday 31st or midday 1st September. They then distribute on the day. Last year every one recieved them on the day except one club that got them a day late. "Can't help Australia Post" I pitty the Club Ring Stewards as the members will be waiting on thier door steps.
  9. Very nice Gina. When do you breed through to? I'm going to give it up 1st week in December.
  10. SQ will be getting thier rings on the 1st september, which is the national ring issue date.

    Welcome to the forum.
  12. We organised a shipment of Birds from the uk to australia in the early 1990's =, we got the birds but also alot of the uk issues. The uk birds didn't do a lot for our birds for many. But they did do well for a few. For some reason, the UK birds didn't click with what we were breeding here, so those that bred UK to UK were the only ones that did okay.
  13. That looks better... I hope to see him in Rockhampton
  14. The cere is blue and a nice cock bird at that.....
  15. Kaz, You need to pair him to a hen with a deep mask and then take the off spring and put them in the nationals...

  17. I have heard that 2 drops of iodine in 1000ml water can help.
  18. First moult is usually around 3 months old. Recessive pieds, Dark eyed Clears and Albino cocks never get a blue cere.

  20. The hanging of a nest box is usually in the hens flight to see who is interested. Henry George uses hollowed out tree branches. Being in the hens flight causes no problems as there are no cock birds in there. I used to use an old nest box but have become used to spotting a hen coming into season.
  21. I have had a Spangle Grey Green Cock and have breed 33 chicks from him..... the 34th was an albino hen?
  22. He should also be overactive.
  23. I wouldn't breed a Cock under 12 months. If your hen is over 12 months, and in breeding condition she should be fine. Make sure the cock is in breeding condition too or else it might be a waist of time.
  24. Hi Irene, I am sorry to be reading this. There are things that you can do with the right medication. When I find a bird in this condition, I place them in the hospital cage and set it to 35deg C. I crop tube them with ER formular and give them water with Megamix in it. These are products from an Australian Vet, Dr Marshall. This usually does the trick. But in your case, you can only seek local medical help.
  25. Breeding show birds is harder. The egg to hatch ratio is low. It seems that the better the birds / pairs the harder it is to breed them. BUT that's the challenge. Some say that if the eggs aren't fertile it's the cock bird. I don't know. You really have to have both birds in breeding condtion to hae any chance of success.
