2009 Australian Nationals
... and you did a great job handing out those awards.. I did notice a bit of a sway but thought it was what I was drinking.. One thing I bring back from the Nationals is the experience of talking to the top breeders. Like having an indepth to Allister Homes about Recessive Pieds or Derik Poole and Roy Blair about thier normals. ....And Gary Armstrong about his Spangles. It is a great experience to hear personelly how they are going. The Nationals really is an experiene that all new breeders should have. Next year is in Rockhampton then Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Is He A Normal Green?
He is carrying Pied markings and I would love a photo of his chest. As the only flights his has are not clear, he would not be a clearflighted .....but could he could be a banded pied?

2009 Australian Nationals
Its Peter Thurn Daz Bugga guessed wrong, but a great out come for him. Well said Daz! The Budgies are the main event but meeting up with other budgie enthusiasts is just as rewarding Funny you say that the WA birds looked good, I think the consensus over here was that our team was not as strong as other years. Compounding this was that preceding the Nationals it was unusually warm here in the West so our birds didn't develop the 'winter' feather- ie. down. Many fretted that the birds would catch their cold over in Burnie and I wouldn't be surprise if this was a reason that numbers for Pre-selection were down this year. Quite a few breeders came thru with numbers, but many more only put in 2-3 birds. NO the SQ team was not strong either... well there is alway6s Rocky.... ..... that's got to start some thing.. Kaz is in.. so am I Who said we have last year's Australian President on this forum... I didn't How's the cold going Gina.

2009 Australian Nationals
Well I'm Back in Back ... so they say... Gina you're not the only one the Dave gave the bugg to. Dr Harry's farm was great.. yes he was OS and no he doesn't breed budgies at the moment but we were told that he will be starting that back up. Macka the Nationals is not only the birds. It's a big part but not the only part. I've spent the past two days with Derick and Debrah Poole at their place and at Swansea. Nationals: The birds were in fair shape but not great shape. WA had better birds. The Sheppard and Flanagan Crest is still being spoken of. Bruce's Recessive Pied was out standing, but I believe that John and Joy McAllister's Recessive last year was better. The SQ team was very disappointing this year. Enough said on that one. Congratulations to P Thurn, Paul I think his name was, a great outcome to have 3 winners in the Clearbody, Fallow and Dominant Pied. You could get three more different varieties. I was bidding for Jean Horrobins Fallow to beat him but it wasn't to be. Congratulations to Henry George for two more wins. Henry did have a tough time as a number of his (and others) birds fell ill on arrival to Burnie... something about the charf. .....well it is time I get some sleep. So see every one tomorrow.

Come on ... where are the Henry George Birds ??? Congratulations to the Vic in coming 1st .... again. Don't woory, we'll get you in Rockhampton. I'm still down here. Went to Cradle Mountain yesterday and froze. One time I have to say is that the food here at the nationals and in Tasmania is great. I'm off to Dr Harry Cooper's Farm soon. All the best to everyone.

2009 Australian Nationals
Hi Guys from The Nationals... What a First day. Nubbly and I are having a great time. Sorry to Jeff fir the disqualification. A very Strong Dominant pied but with three toes forward on both feet. Strangely the Judges didn't try to get him to move to see if they would return to the back...... There has been controversy, with the SQ team becoming ill on Chaff being put in the holding cages. NSW had a hen that went wild and attacked the other team birds. The score are not be displayed very well and you have to work out who is winning. There was an issue at the auction with people getting other people's bidding tickets. But the food and people are bloody great I'm off to the nights festivities so will see if Nubbly does end up at the bar

2009 Nationals Auction
Usually you put your name against the birds you want and if there is more than one name, you draw cards. The highest gets the bird. I think that is fairer.

2009 Australian Nationals

Spangle To Spangle Pairing
Here's hoping Daz RobD was saying just last night that my birds are starting to look like Kaz birds where a number of chicks are coming through with the same features. He says it makes them identifiable as bred by me. I can believe him

2009 Australian Nationals
186 from three clubs. That show the members on here the difference, between each state, Victoria,1050 birds 16 clubs NSW ?birds & 17 clubs,SQ is the next strongest state,?birds ?clubs. If a winner comes out of the other states, its a cracking bird,I always am pleased for the minor states, when they have a bird in the top 3 at the National. Add 12 clubs 1056 birds for SQ ..... Well Gina you did say you would be proping up the bar..
