  1. so its a df spangle ???? which makes it blue serried so you would get same out come as you would with a albino except instead of ayf sf / albino cocks you would get ayf sf df spangles and spangles hens and cocks and dompied spangles hens and cocks and df spangle dompieds hens and cocks and depending if the df spangle cock is opaline or not you would get if he was ,... opaline spangle dom pieds and opaline spangles and opaline df spangles and opaline df dompied spangles if hes not opaline your cocks would be split opaline (from mum ) but no opaline chicks in nest and if shes cinnamon you would get all cocks split cinnamon as well as opaline and if the cocks / opaline you will get opaline hens in nest with all the othr goodys and oh theirs just one more if hes split cin you will get cinnamon hens and if split cin and opaline the hens will be opaline cin or opaline or normal ive probbly missed something like i cant remember if a split cock can get you a cock of a sex linked with a sex linked hen i forget to tell truth i dont think so but dont take my word on that but as you can see lots of opatunity for beautiful chicks also depending if hes masking sky or cobalt depends on colour out come your best to put a cobalt or a violet ever a mauve to a sky blue for the most colour out comes cause light blue n light blue equals yep light blue also you wont get albino hens
  2. your boy is a dominant pied type 2 yellow face cobalt cock bird of normal variety(as in wings ) it is possible hes type one its hard to tell from picture im only going from the first picture as second picture was way to dark to ever try judge i say yf2 as his colour goes right down his back and im guessing slightly on tail but can not see however hes very light yellow and none on his clear flights this is why i say possably type 1 could you get more pics of birds full front and full back my help me decide he is not an australian yellow face
  3. I agree with the bird being dom pied and I also think maybe cinnamon spangle is involved too. Thank you, Kaz. I feel that I have an interesting little bird. :redalbino: Thank you, GenericBlue. Wow! Australian golden face single factor sky blue dominant pied opaline spangle (and maybe some cinnamon spangle)! I have had to write that down. I will be booking her into the avian vet for tests. I am going to memorise that for when I book her in and am going to enjoy telling them that. :)Thank you very much to everyone for your input. I do appreciate it. its either cinnamon or its not you will be able to tell as cinnamon is brown and ifits normal it will be faint black so for fun it could be a,.. cinnamon agf sf sky blue dominant pied Opaline spangle or just a ,.. agf sf sky blue dominant pied Opaline spangle i will say one thing though split her to a albino cock and you will get some beautiful babys and better in the second generation
  4. its also a shame how many show birds dont get rehoused after their socalled used by its quite sad really i rehome all my birds if not usable to a apropriate house too many dont
  5. sorry for the late reply. i had a look at all of my birds on the weekend and i made a list which ones to keep etc. as i don't want to end up with too many birds. the albino mum is on my keeping list now...she is such a good mum...so she will be a great foster mum when i start my show type breeding in august/september....got my club rings last week...very exciting! might not breed pet types in future so some of my flock will go. thinking of keeping 25ish budgies and start from there...most of them show type....some pet type for fostering. oh - and it's so funny: sherbert the lacewing is so confident now. he is back in the aviary and is flirting with all the girls now, especially the young albino hen i got from you and her mum. he must like albinos. :redalbino: it only takes one matting to build their confidance sometimes it takes for ever yes loves albinos his gals were albino hen and lacewing white hen here but he was too shy im so glad he came confident i was sure he just didnt like it here some birds are funny like that wontbreed for some people yet fill every egg somewhere else you will need good foster hens try put him with a big grey next normal colour not cin
  6. I agree with the bird being dom pied and I also think maybe cinnamon spangle is involved too. its not dilute its if anything cin like kaz suggests and its not t2 yellow face its australian golden face single factor sky blue dom pied oplaine spangle golden face as its already turned green type 2 it would still be mainly blue under tail area
  7. what only one picture  nice oplaineing on your hen their the spangle
  8. im saving my penny's for one bird particular at my clubs auction i hope i may be in with a chance to bid over others will see i too like to see bird natral splat its not a show its a auction i like to see the raw deal http://www.bcv.asn.au/
  9. well good try mate if i was you id be going to them yourself id take the bird and id say unless you got a good reason for me finding this bird out back of your shop half dead then i will be taking the photos i have of him in your shop unwell and the ones i took when i found him tossed out back half dead to the loacal counciel offeces and putting in a complaint about your shop and the animals welfair then id just walk out and leave the dead bird on bentch where you pay id also make sure you get random people to be in the shop at the exact time you do this and say it as loud as you can with out yelling still in a speacking tone id make sure some the random people made it look like they were listening and id make sure some left with saying something like m i wont be comming here again id have a family with kids and a few single people see how they squirm then make sure you tell them they better pick their game up as you may be young but you know your legal rights and theirs where it comes to miss treatment and crulty to animals but i am diffrent to most and have habbit of speaking out when i mabe should just leave things i just belive in saying what you think and standing up for people or animals and their right
  10. its a golden face sky blue spangle opaline hen and if its not 5 to 6ix months i say a dom pied if it is older or that age its rec but looks dom to me the other one is grey rec pied spangle

  13. I was going Dave , But I have my 6 year old all day tomorrow . Kids come first round here . I will be at the brasea so may catch you there, Happy buying!. Hey Matt, Family should always come first. Well, I have been and come home. I only stayed for abou 1/5th of the auction. There were a few out of towners there and some of the regular faces. Birds went from about $40 for the cheapest to $800 for the dearest, and I left at lot #50. There are some people there just buying buying buying. It is like some old guys have worked hard their whole life and saved up and are just buying left right and center. $300 here, $500 there. I was sitting behind these 3 guys who must have bought about half of the 50 lots so far, totally about $4000 - $5000. There were some average birds, and a few nice birds. There was the father of a recent nationals winner ( a clearwing) who went for $800, with the uncle also going for $400 or so. The thing I noticed most was the preparation that went into these birds for the auction. They were despotted. There were no birds with a mass of spots, they have been plucked or trimmed (whichever method he uses) so when they sat there, they looked like they were show ready. These means that the birds would look better, and the better looking birds will always sell for more money. I thought this was interesting as I had not see this before, the despotting for an auction. Interesting. Anyway, with the old man bid-a-thon going on, I decided i was out of there. Were there some birds I would have liked? Sure, but even bidding for them would have seen me paying top dollar for some birds that I might have got better elsewhere, and there was no guarantee I would have won, and even if I did, chances are I would have paid too much for the birds there and then. Good experience, but I will wait until next weekend to see what is on sale at the BRASEA auction. thank you very much on the run down dave sounds like what the wood n drew auction this 20th june is going to be like at the Preston east high school where the young bird shields are held older breeders with deep pockets spending their retirement funds  im going to try go for look but like you feel i will be a tiny fish in a massive ocean so will most probbly stick to my own club auction which is on 27th sunday june its birds are great and prices dont drive massivly through the roof many great breeders have their birds in and you can always come home with something that your after at the price thats right for u its listed on the bcv sight the info and the lots list
  14. im silently enjoying your progress and success
  15. No it isnt blue its grey kaz is right its grey but its a blue grey im really not going to try explain myself as everytime i do i just end up looking stupid all i will say though is that i class my blue grey birds in a diffrent class to my greys but this is only as if i was to breed a blue grey to a cobalt or sky blue i would more than likeley get blue birds and one or two greys and i dont want to breed blue greys into my albinos just grey birds with grey cheek patches for that if a grey bird has blue slate cheek patches and even if its darkgrey with no blue sufushion it stays away from my albinos no one here seems to understand what i mean when i try to go in depth on this grey blue bird thing so im not going to bother but dean explaind it quiet well on the thread someone asked about maves and greys it was alpaca or you i think who asked not sure anymore but read that it explains it exactly
  16. well im sorry to say but number 2 the rec pied cobalt is a df Australian yellow face cock the hen number three is a australian yf single factor hen skyblue if you ask me not cobalt number one is a grey opaline by looks id say from a cobalt pairent the rec pied im going to leave that one not good enough picture for me to judge you have a grey df dom as kaz said and they are very nice birds to start with lots of combos you can get alpaca .... this is what i call a blue grey a cobalt grey bird a grey bird breed from blue birds or a grey x cobalt pairing they hold a blue shine some hold violet
