  3. yet another egg off the perch today. I keep adding them into the box if they are not cracked but she doesnt seem to get it. She incubates her 2 that werent laid off the perch but every other egg that has been laid has been laid off the perch. Shes barley out of the nest for 20 minutes a day but when she does come out she lays off the perch
  4. A new member has joined the gang today. Day 3 and their are now 3 members. Tiny is the oldest and biggest. Grown double his size in 3 days.

  6. all pet budgies sold today. 4 cockatiels remain to be sold. Going to an auction on saturday and hope to come home with a few birds.
  7. They are pretty birds and they fly really fast and its fun to watch them. Now my aviary is bird proof I have no problem watching the finches. You see thousands of them on the fences and close lines.
  8. Depends how pointed the egg actually is. An egg with a sharp point on it cannot be good.
  9. Double barred finches are the biggest annoyance ever. They fly so fast and fit through such small crevices. They are everywhere at my place.
  10. I think the hen will be fine with only 3 chicks. As Daz said keep up her nutrition.

  12. that baby needs to be urgently treated. did you go to a vet?
  13. I dont think pet shops sell ivermectin. You'd have to go to a vet. I cannot see the picture well enough to say if both have scaly face or not. a close up picture would be best
  14. I know some eggs can be alot smaller than others. My pet pair this year had huge eggs compared to the exhibition birds with tiny eggs. Im not sure about the shape,
  15. Olive oil can be used for a mild case if you do not have ivermectin but I would definitly use ivermectin,

  17. Yeah just stick them above the torch and it should work well. If I candle my eggs I shine a torch into the nest box and look that way. I hate touching the eggs.

    Welcome to the forum.
  19. Well done Liv I would have fostered it also. I've done it a few times and the mothers never neglected the babies. YET. I never knew that about the crop milk. Does the milk in the mother not develop until 18 days after her first egg is laid or how does it work? I always thought they can just produce the milk whenever they want.
  20. Thankyou Daz I read the manual and realised what Global Change was. I have now edited the ring numbers. Thankyou.
  21. Fertile egg Young or unfertile egg This is an excellent site with all different egg stages. http://shilala.homestead.com/candling.html And here http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/1958/eggs.html
  22. I do not candle my eggs. Fertile eggs will be white and not clear, infertile eggs will be pink and see through. top 2 eggs are fertile, bottom one is not. note the colour difference The hen doesnt start incubating properly till 3rd or 4th egg is laid so I'd give it a few more days. I've made the mistake of waiting 20 days then getting rid of the eggs because I thought they were overdue.
  23. he looks like a yf2 skyblue to me. the yellow goes into the body colour after the first moult and a new colour comes out, seafoam green or aqua.

I used autocad 3 years ago at highschool. For graphics. Was a fun program to use.
  25. Agree with Macka. Their may be a few healthy birds in the mix but the majority could be carrying any number of diseases and not showing any signs. Until you get home and you notice all your birds getting some deadly disease.
