  2. my breeding room has one full side wire. The sun does not directly shine in their but it is light all day. I wonder how I can get direct sunlight in their.
  3. Does the sun have to be directly shining on each bird or if it lights up the aviary is that good enough?
  4. Red mite are very annoying, I had them once and only one thing worked for me. Avian Insect Liquidator.
  5. If my breeding birds get lice I give them spot on ivermectin. Aswell as Mite and lice spray. Aswell as a powder that goes under the shavings in the nesting box. I wouldnt go soaking them too much but spray the perches and the floor and everything.
  6. Does the sun give off the uvb light to produce the vitamin D3? Do you have to have a uv light Daz or is the sun good enough?
  7. Mine are the same as daves. If the breeding birds see me coming with veggies they get off the perches and sit on the floor waiting.
  8. Hi I've just added all my birds into the budgerigar program. I want to change some of the ring numbers, it does not let me. I highlight the ring number to delete it but a box pops up saying pedigree and family groups. I move the cursor over the ring number and click delete but nothing happens. How come I am unable to delete the ring number? Heres a picture. Thankyou.

  13. okay Thankyou very much Neville. So their is no factor limiting the amount of mutations a bird has? Whether its in split form or visual. Thankyou very much.
  14. Hi I have a few questions regarding budgie genetics and mutations. 1. How many mutations can a bird have? Is their a limit? I've seen skyblue opaline spangles before, is it possible to get a blue opaline cinnamon spangle yellowface dominant pied? Their are alot of genes their Im wondering where it stops at? Is their a limit to how many mutations can be visible on a budgie? 2. Can a lutino be a spangle and a dominant pied but they are just not visible? Spo its masking it? Can a lutino mask 2 dominant genes at once? Same with double factor spangle, can it mask genes? Any genetic questions I will post here in hope that it can help me and many others. Simplest explanations as possible please. Thankyou all.
  15. This was taken from Barries website:: Green series birds can mask a yellow face character, but they can carry both yellow face and blue as a split at the same time. I dont know anything about the goldenface so it was not me who said that. I'm just going off of barries website. That picture is also from barries website. Maybe you should email Barrie and ask him to correct it.
  16. Thankyou KAZ and DEB I will give both ideas a go. I hate mice.
  17. Hi all. I saw a mouse outside my breeding room today. I ocassionally leave the door open for more ventilation. Their are no loose birds in the room, just cages. Is it safe to put the ratsack on the floor of the breeding room? The birds would be no where near it. Im just worried if another mouse gets in, takes the ratsack and drops it in one of the cages. It would be hard for them to do but it I will not underestimate them.
  18. Nice pairs Dave I especially like pair 1, 4, 7 and 9 and 10. Good luck.

Excellent birds Kaz I especially like This one And this baby. Is this the one with your ring on it? You chose very well.
  22. Back from the beach today to see I have won the bbc member of the year award. Thankyou to all. It was raining the entire time down their so not much was done. Especially because it was easter sunday and not too many shops were open. The unit was okay, the tv was the smallest I've ever seen. The good thing that came out of it was I picked up about 15 thousand cuttlefish bone from the beach. I was walking along the beach with a mate and their were these popping sounds and we couldnt figure out what they were. Then we noticed they are thousands of bluebottles popping. One stung me for the first time ever, stung for quite a while to. The birds are all going well.
  23. Excellent article Daz just what I needed thankyou.
  24. Has sonny had his first moult yet? If not then yes its possible he will moult into all new feathers.
  25. 5-9 days depending on size of the chick. I use 2 toe forward 2 toe back method, some use the 3 forward 1 back its really up to you. Once the ring is on make sure it does not fall off.
