  1. wow you bought so many birds I really like the Light Green Dominant Pied Cock and the Green Recessive Pied Cock out of the second lot. I bet your stoked.
  2. I've got no idea who to pair to who as you've probably seen I have a thread similar to this. Very nice birds I really like the yellowfaces and the grey spangle
  3. I guess the spots on the hen may make someone think it could be an opaline. I definitly think it is not an opaline though. Tiny day 6. Will be rung tomorow. Hes by himself today.
  4. Bluey Nibbler biting bluey... Nibbler bites everything. I do not know why but I just hope she doesnt hurt any other birds. sHes probably angry that he came out cinnamon and not normal like the rest of them. this one is called kiwi, dont know why either. I just thought of a name and their it was. nibbler my favourite of them all. Breeze is his name. I love yellowface and this one is a prime example. kiwi Had a mate over yesterday and he said all 7 babies are nice quality and all are keepers. so that is good. I may even get to show these birds.
  5. does the dad not hang around the nest box and help feed the chicks? Do all the babies belong to one of the hens or both? Was it just one hen who laid all the eggs or did both hens lay eggs and all eggs hatched. so some chicks are from one hen and some are from another. Its amazing I've never seen it before and I hope they go well for you.
  6. Thankyou very much Nubbly I definitly agree with pairing one so that is going to go ahead. I will try and find some other birds from breeders and I will repost when I get some.
  7. They look like mini chickens. I had a few chicks from king quails. I found IF the eggs hatch then the parents are pretty good parents. The chick would always follow the parents around everywhere and the parent would not let the chick out of sight. I always found that they just laid eggs everywhere and rarely incubated. I might try them again some time.
  8. Thankyou very much nubbly for the reply. I am just starting out showing, I know my birds arent the best quality but they are good to start with. Im basically looking for size in the birds. Also good length of mask is another one. Their are many other things I want aswell but Im not sure if it will work that way.
  9. Tiny day 5. He now has 4 mates with him. Eyes now open!
  10. The eyes is one way to tell the approximate age. Eyes with no ring around them is a bird 0 months to approx 4 months of age. Dark grey ring (iris around the birds eyes) is 4-6 months. Grey iris is 6 months to 8 months. Any later than 8 months is a white iris. some varieties dont get iris so their are other ways to tell. Bars on the head/cap. Usually a budgie less than 4 months of age will have bars going all the way down to the cere, if it moults earlier, the bars will dissapear earlier. After 4 months of age it will have no baby bars. Does your budgie have aleg ring? Take a look at this site here, it has examples http://www.budgieplace.com/age.html
  11. Excellent pictures. Some amazing colourful birds. I really like sunny's and rubie's colours.
  12. I think I'm going to pair cock 4 to cock 1. double factor spangles would be good. Cock 2 to hen 2. Again I want double factor spangles. Cock 1 to hen 4. Some tcb chicks. What do you think?
  13. in my opinion the yellow one is a dark green pied. Need a close up of eyes to tell if its dom pied or rec pied. Also need a closer picture of cere to be certain on gender., Blue and white one looks like a dominant pied opaline skyblue hen.
  14. He is very pretty. Did you buy him as a pet or rescue him? I'd love a rainbow lorikeet.
  15. Excellent birds their Bird_paradise. I really like boof and galbatorix.
  16. if bird droppings fall into your aviary it is not good. Wild birds are full of disease especially pigeons. I hope you and your birds can get through this Melbournebudgies.
  17. Pigeons...the "rats" of the bird world I hate pigeons. When i had an open roof aviary they always sat on the roof and gave the birds countless diseases.
  18. Hi all. I have a few show birds that I want to pair up in a few months time. I have no idea which bird to pair with which. Here are the birds. Cock 1 - Texas clearbody. Not big in size, thats all I know about it. Some chicks from this cock will be tcb so that is good because I like tcb. cock 2 - Skyblue spangle. Average size, has opalescence. Cock 3 - Skyblue normal. Pretty big in size. Good parent cock 4 - green spangle. Good size. Cock 5 - Green normal. cock 6 - Recessive pied light green. good parent. Father to the green spangle cock above. Thats it for males. Time for females Hen 1 - 06 hen. grey green cinnamon spangle. Good size. Hen 2 - Good size. Opaline spangle grey green. hen 3 - Good size and colour hen 4 - hen on the left. good colour. good parent. as you can see im low on hens. Any opinions on who to pair to who would be greatly appreciated. Im mainly looking for size.
  19. I was their DAz I did not see you either. Karlos went off by himself looking at birds and I was just waiting to win. I bought a show cage from the person in a grey shirt at the canteen. And I also bought some items from the table.

  21. Thankyou Dean. They will be quarantined for 90 days as per usual. I am taking with someone about using other medications while in quarantine.
  22. Thankyou very much Liv and shannon. I also do not know how to tell grey greens from olives in spangles, neither have black tails or black/navy cheek patches. Is the fault you are refering to called opalescence? Thankyou again.
