My New Budgie
My favourite mutation. You picked very well. He is an excellent quality colourfull budgie. Maybe you should think about quarantining him away from other birds. Worm him and treat for other diseases as some petshop birds do carry disease. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=18548 http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=22067

- Day 1 To Day 42.
Arent olives supposed to have dark blue cheek patches? These birds have a black tail aswell No I do not know what the parents are.- Genetic's Help.
very interesting Sailorwolf thankyou.- Current Babies
A few of my hens do that too Kaz. One bites and does not let go. She is not intimidated in the slightest. She stands her ground more than any bird I've ever seen. I've come away second best a few times with that hen.- My First Breeding Attempt
As soon as the first chick arrives I put nesting materials in. Otherwise the box gets very dirty and the chick has a higher chance of developing splayed legs. I find after the chick hatches the hen doesnt bother throwing the nesting material out. good luck. I start counting from the 3rd egg.- Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
By the time I take everything I need to pay out of my payslip I barley have anything left. I have to save money to pay for any new birds and at this stage I cannot afford $60 shipping fee.- Current Babies
I will be getting some nest boxes from Daz so it will be good.- Day 1 To Day 42.
Thankyou all. Daz you are correct the cheek patches are light blue. They look more silver than dark/navy blue to me though so I still stick with grey green. Tails are both black aswell.- Day 1 To Day 42.
Hi I'm going to do a journal on a baby budgie. I will start at day 1 and each day I will take 1 picture. At the end we will all see how much they grow. Parents are both grey greens. The baby will be nicknamed tiny and he will be show rung. Meet tiny at 1 day old.- Current Babies
I've used oats before and I found they absorbed the droppings and the other stuff alot better than shavings. I went off the oats because the hen would spend all day throwing it out and making a huge mess. Nice babies as always kaz.- Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
Stopping breeding for a while. Once these chicks are weaned that is it. Next year the babies will be old enough to breed and I really dont know anyone who sells quality birds in my area. I dont think I'm ever going to show my birds, but I will always prefer exhibition type birds over pet types. It's for this reason I will stay with exhibition budgerigars, I just wont show them.- Genetic's Help.
I;m just trying to learn the basics. thankyou very much Drnat a very good post. Will have to read it a few times to get my head around it.- French Moult
I think pbfd is genetic and it can spread through the air to other birds. I'm really not sure about french moult.- French Moult
I hate it. I have had a few french moult birds before, some mild cases and some serious cases. The serious case birds can never fly. Here are 2 of my old birds (passed away) that were beleived to have serious french moult or pbfd their beaks grow so fast and exceedingly long that I had to trim them every 3 days. They live a terrible life, claws grow so long and they can never fly. Eventually I had them put to sleep, it was for the best. I have not had french moult latley which is an excellent thing. The parents that produced the chicks were never bred again. I'm not sure if its genetic or not and theirs a huge debate about it but I never want any fm chicks again so I will do what ever necessary to stop it. I hate french moult. You can see they live a terrible life. Barley any feathers or anything.- Bird Pics
Mother and daughter young cobalt father and daughter cornface Nibbler, never stops moving never stops biting a young yellowface Nibbler is hungry The face of a commited mother and excellent parent grey green baby brother and sister- Help Please!
Yeah I couldnt get rid of the eggs and I did use a really really terrible product from a pet shop. I wont be doing that again.- Help Please!
You are probably right Dave. They kept coming back. It was not until I used A.I.L that they were eradicated for good. They were in the nesting box and they are very hard to see. They cover the babies at night.- Ratsac, Rat Poison
Are the traps effective splat? What do you use as bait- Pairing Some Of My Birds.
1 - Not really, I've only had one. 2 - yes they can be fertile I know Kaz (admin on the forum) had 2 chicks hatch and survive from a double yoker. 3 - Chances are slim but it can happen as stated above 4 - I would think so yes, Liv I really really love this pair- Help Please!
Very interesting nubbly I had a red mite problem 6 months ago and it took a while to get rid of them. I used ail, ivermectin and bird mite and lice spray. - Day 1 To Day 42.
