  1. okay well they are what I think, I could be wrong perhaps we should wait for kaz or someone else. The black really gets in the road for me sexing budgies. That second picture I really cannot say for certain cock or hen.
  2. I beleive its still possible for a lutino and lutino to produce yf blue chicks? Both parents would have needed to be split for the blue gene. And one of them would need the yellowface gene. Ino's Can mask other genes so I beleive this to be quite possible. Can anyone confirm?
  3. okay so if hes moult is not over yet then their is a chance his yellow will get brighter.I believe A green bird can still get the yellowface gene just like any other bird. But its too hard to tell if he has it or not without breeding because his face is yellow anyway, its the way green is. I would also like someone to confirm this. Hey chrissy. I got this from barrie shutts website: We can breed yellow faces in all the blue series birds including albinos, dark eyed clears, greys and violets in all their three depths of shades. Green series birds can mask a yellow face character, but they can carry both yellow face and blue as a split at the same time.
  4. Yes they sometimes get black on beak and cere I beleive its melanin or somthing. It is a good sign. It always gets in the way of sexing but oh well. First chick looks like a hen to me because the cere looks white. did you use a flash? I could be wrong but I say its a hen.
  5. This is a yf2, Note the body colour is not sky blue nor is it cobalt. Its a seafoam green colour because the yellowface has gone into the body This is a goldenface, note the goldenface has gone into the body and made it even darker. I take back the goldenface. I beleive it to be a yf2 after reading Barrie shutts mutation page. Chrissy I always thought green series birds can get yellowface gene. but you cannot tell if they have it because all green birds have a yellowface.
  6. I beleive goldenface dilutes into the body colour same as yf2.
  7. My opinions. Top one looks like a hen. Second one looks like a hen. Third one The photo is not too great so I will wait for a better photo. The cere looks quite pink.
  8. In my opinion he looks golden face in that photo. It may just be the way the photo was taken but the yellow looks very bright. If I am wrong then he is yf2 as the yellow has gone into the body colour. Hes a stunning little fellow.
  9. Hey all Ive been growing seeds lately and I need some questions answered. I already know what the seed types are because I made a post about it earlier. Heres one : Red millet Heres another: White millet?? Canary Seed Also. If I was to rip the seed head off the stalk, would the stalk die? Or regrow another seed head? Thankyou.
  10. Thanks very much Richo I wil be sure to post more pictures.Tomatoe's are flowering and will grow huge tomatoes very soon.Silverbeet is going strong the budgies are loving it.A sunflower popped up in the garden alsoSome seedsAnd some babies
  11. Golden faces are alot brighter than yellowfaces. I do not have a goldenface picture but you will be able to tell the difference easy. Their are two yf types and only 1 goldenface type.
  12. By buttercup lutino do you mean yellowface albino? If this is the case then yf blues are possible. because albino is blue series.
  13. Baby from grey green pair has been fed well. Looking good, In the big nest their were originally 8 babies. Mother is a skyblue yellowface and father is a cobalt normal. 6 of them are not yellowface. One has just turned out to be a yellow face so I'm so happy. The other is too young to tell.
  14. Welcome to the forum love the webpage
  15. I've seen birds with rickets and splayed legs lead normal lives. It would depend on how severe the case. Post a picture.
  16. Are they sparrows or finches? Finches used to always hang around my breeding room and they can get in all nooks and crevices.
  17. Very interesting Lochlan thanks very much for that.,
  18. go to www.photobucket.com or tinypic.com Upload your pictures and copy and paste the links here

I'm very sorry to hear that Krosp.
  20. I become attached to chicks I handraise also. You see them grow every hour of their life. 2 1/2 old is fairly old. I cannot think of any other way of curing splayed legs other than Kaz's idea. do you have a picture of the chick?
  21. okay yes I was thinking that thanks Nerwen.
  22. When I first put it on I was worried because it really restricts the birds movement. Having both legs tied together I was worried that it would not be able to lift its head up to be fed. It really depends on how old the chick is. The fact that you are handraising it is good because the mother may reject the chick if she sees a sponge on its feet. How old is the chick? If its not too old then it would be better because most young chicks just sit in the one spot waiting for food anyway. Aslong as it can lift its head up I see no problem. These are just my thoughts.
  23. I would use Kaz's make up sponge idea again. Make sure its not too tight and not too big. I've made one before and it worked pretty well.

First ones are pet birds. Why do pet birds always get such perfect spots?
